The de-essing function alone is awesome.

Damn. These guys suckered me for 50 bucks to upgrade to 4 back in Jan.
I still find that Melodyne takes some top end off. Feels less open to me.

Seems even more transparent to me now. Keeping off the esses really helps.

I still find everything effects sound, and it seems to me both Melodyne and Autotune do a tiny bit also. Always thought Melodyne pronounced the mids a tiny bit more (which fits with your more top off/less open thought) and always thought Autotune had a tiny bit less mid's than melodyne with a little bit more more scooped/bottom to its sound FWIW

Logged into my Melodyne account today and there was a free upgrade to 5 Essential available.

SNIP I still find that Melodyne takes some top end off. Feels less open to me. I find that interesting, actually. More and more, I find myself rolling off top-end on everything in my mixes as the top end from all the vintage gear doesn't have tape to tame it. I know, I'm being all grandpa on y'all, but I'd like to keep my hearing for another 50 years, so I guess I might be a little overly sensitive to it. But there's a lot of distortion in the high end (10-20K) and it hurts your ears. JMHO. I am strongly considering going down the melodyne rabbit hole again.

Man, the tuning has been improved. I really love this...and the sibilance abilities are fantastic.

Any there any v4 to v5 upgrade deals going on? I don’t think so. 149 for me, on Studio. I’ll probably wait till the holidays. Usually around 99 then.

I'm trying the demo . . . standalone and I have a feeling it's not as good as using it as a plugin integrated into PT.
Can anyone share thoughts on that please?

Anyone compared this to Revoice Pro 4? I have Melodyne Studio 4 but after getting Revoice Pro about a year ago I've not used Melodyne. This new version may be worth a try.
