Phoenixverb for $10 started at the beginning of March, Excalibur for $10 started at the beginning of April and R2 for $30 started at the beginning of May. I held out longest on that last one, but this damn thread.. bought last night. Upgrade from Excalibur or PhoenixVerb to Nimbus for $29: Pluginboutique

I’ve been using R4 more and more and I really dig it.

Synopsis of the 4 Exponential verbs (Nimbus, Phonix, R2 & R4)?

R2 is a little brighter than R4 I think. R4 has more options, more early reflection options for example.
Nimbus and Phoneix I haven't compared back to back, but it's the same thing with a less / more option.
I really like the R ones on vocals. They are special.
The other two I would use more on drum set or something, as a sort of room tone.
If I need a more "effecty" reverb I'll grab an Eventide, or something.
But the Exponential Audio are on my personal top shelf reach for verb.

Honestly, all the different versions has hurt...no one knows what to buy.

The only answer is to buy them all, haha!
If I had to pick between R2 and R4 I would pick R4, not sure if that helps anyone.
Nimbus and Phoenix I'm not as deeply involved with, I'll have to do a shootout.

I have Nimbus and R4. If I had to pick it would be R4. But I do think there are some room sounds in Nimbus that I prefer.

Honestly, all the different versions has hurt...no one knows what to buy. I kind of look at it like a hardware unit where you buy more algorithms. I may not love all of his but I have yet to hear any I hate.

Honestly, all the different versions has hurt...no one knows what to buy. Agreed. If they're going to maintain this number of products, there would ideally be more clarity between each individual product. Something kind of like: - Phoenixverb is great at realistic, natural sounding spaces and rooms.
- Nimbus is Phoenixverb's big brother, with more options and tweakability.
- R2 is more "effecty," with modulations similar to studio reverb boxes of old.
- R4 is R2's big brother, with more options and tweakability.
Really, something that simple would help clarify things a bit.
But honestly, I've always found the iZotope website to be pretty confusing and not very helpful to me.

Got Phoenixverb but I find the interface not pleasant to use and it's got way too many presets. Granted, I'm sure I could use it as my only reverb for a whole project and it would be good, but I'm spoiled with reverbs and I'm not reaching for this one.
Is there any preset/style that really knocks your socks off and is a must-use?

I usually grab a preset as a starting point and then tweak to my own taste. I love how easy the preset browser works on these.
