Total sell out I thought it is crazy when P-verb was at 40 bucks and I forgot to buy it. Now I bought it at 8 bucks here in EU. One of the most natural sounding reverb plug ins a must-have for those who can't afford a nice tracking room, but they love acoustic music.

I remembered the Phoenix verb was very realistic, but it had been many years back when I heard it. I always wanted one, but having the UAD EMT-140, the Relab XL480, the Liquid Sonics 7th Heaven, Sound Toys Little Plate and a few others, it just wasn't worth it. I did jump on the sale though. I haven't been tracking lately, so I have no idea if I'll ever use it or not, but it was great to get it just in case.
Swafford, how would you describe the difference between the R2 and Phoenix Verb?

The P verb rules the 7th H with ease IMO. Just the way how it glues with the signal...

I'll try it next time I'm working, thanks mrholmes.
Still curious about the difference between the Phoenix and the R2.

I'll try it next time I'm working, thanks mrholmes. Still curious about the difference between the Phoenix and the R2. I think the basic idea is the Phoenix is supposed to sound like "natural spaces," like realistic rooms, halls, etc. IMO, it succeeds at this in spades. It's fantastic. The R2 is supposed to be the more "artificial reverb" sounds: like the Lexicon boxes of old, it would have chorusing, gating, etc. mixed in to the repeats for coloring things up. That may be a gross oversimplification, or it may just be flat-out wrong, but that's my understanding. I know from firsthand experience the Phoenix is amazing: two weeks ago, I just put it on my mix bus at the end of the chain and blended it in at like 20-30%, and it totally made the mix sound like it was played together in a real room. That's not easy to pull off in a plugin, IME. No direct experience with the R2 at this point, but thinking about picking it up at this crazy price.

Does anybody know how long these kinds of crazy deals last at Plugin Boutique? Seems like PhoenixVerb has been $10 for several weeks now, unless it went off and came back on...

Thanks Mark.. I kind of thought that was the case. I have the Relab XL480, So I’m covered as far as Lexicon style sound goes.
I haven’t used Phoenix verb yet, but I’m looking forward to it. It sounds like you’re using it for the same purpose I wanted to use the Ocean Way plug-in.
I never quite took to the ocean way, but I have heard people get amazing results with it. What they do is re-mic, and I really don’t want to do that.

Phoenixverb for $10 started at the beginning of March, Excalibur for $10 started at the beginning of April and R2 for $30 started at the beginning of May. I held out longest on that last one, but this damn thread.. bought last night.

I have most of the Exponential reverbs, I think they are spectacular. They stand out. I probably own 30+ reverb plugins which is ludicrous. For that price, get them, be impressed.

R2 is good but I am mainly using 1989verb now for grainy utility verb. Alesis Midiverb II style is vibier.

They are both amazing and a steal for these prices. Phoenix for natural rooms and chambers. Beautiful on strings and piano. R2 for vintage digital sound, lexicon style, but still a bit cleaner than LX480. Great for vocals, drums and everything that needs something a bit modulated. Both are super workhorses and as good as any plugin reverbs in my opinion.

Apparently R2 is a crossgrade. Does this mean you redeem your PhoenixVerb license ?

Apparently R2 is a crossgrade. Does this mean you redeem your PhoenixVerb license ? No, you just have to already own one of the two products, you keep it. But it is also available for sale as a single, regular purchase plugin. There are two listings on Plugin Boutique, the two I just described. This sale is running until June 5 is what I was told.
