Have been demoing the Saturn 2 for a week or so now. It's nice. I haven't mangled anything with it, but I was working on a track yesterday and threw it on the mixbuss. I was digging what the "warm tape" setting was doing to soften things up top, but it was a little muddy on the bottom where the bass drum lives. I created a 2nd band for everything 200hz down and scrolled through the types until I landed on one of the tube settings. Sounded just right. Pretty incredible to be able to do that. Barely scratched the surface though. That's the thing about their stuff.... they go deep. I use the Pro-Q3 constantly and every time I'm reminded that I'm using like 30% of it's capabilities. When did the "2" version come out?? I've been using Saturn since 2015, but I never got an email or anything telling me there was a new version. OK, looking for vids on YouTube, seems like it was released maybe 2 months ago? Definitely recent. Not exactly sure. I got an email a few weeks ago.

It was a couple/few months ago. I need to demo. I always loved the flexibility of Saturn but didn’t love the sonics of the distortion.

I demo'd Pro Q3 and I've been on a quest to find something cheaper that can replace it. I can't find anything. Going to have to buy it. It's the quintessential digital EQ.
I have Pro L but happily replaced it with the Eventide Elevate limiter bundle, which IMO is the ultimate master bus limiter. I get better results and I feel like I have more control.
For dynamic EQ I'm happy with Waves F6 and I have the C6 multiband compressor also, which works when needed (not that often). F6 is a real problem solver.
Pro DS is one of the best de essers I've used but I got Waves Sibilance for free so I use that. It's a little bit darker than Pro DS but it basically does the same thing. I got used to it. Don't know if spending over a hundred dollars on a de esser would be that smart now.
Pro Q3 I'm going to buy, and I think the Saturn 2 is on my list also. Haven't demo'd that one. Also curious about the gate. Not worried about the other ones really.

Yup! Forgot to mention those two! Reminds me I need to use Saturn more, I usually go to Decapitator first out of habit. Any favorite models or settings in Saturn? I use the the Warm Tube a lot .. 30-40% .. on vocals and and VI's On rock tracks I also like to create a "dirt" bus and send vocals and guitars to it. I put a tape delay of about 100ms and then Saturn "Gentle Saturation" at 100% . I send small amounts. You're doing it right if you can't really hear it but if you mute it you notice something is missing.
I never tried Saturn 1,... and need to spend more time with 2, but a quick demo of Saturn 2 so far has it added to my list. Not just for the overt stuff but like javamad said above using it in small amounts in places blended to taste for texture.

The closest I've found is the EQual from IK Multimedia but it's still just a little bit clunkier, not speedy enough. It's not about the sound quality, at all with these. Talking about Pro Q3 specifically. If sound was the only concern I could use any of them.

I use the m/s capabilities constantly. I use it as just a cool sounding regular old EQ.... constantly. It's sick dude.

It was a couple/few months ago. I need to demo. I always loved the flexibility of Saturn but didn’t love the sonics of the distortion. Yeah, I hear you on that. There are really only a couple that I warmed up to. (Paging chessparov) IIRC off the top of my head, it was Warm Tape and Warm Tube, maybe? Looks like there are a lot of new algorithms in this version, plus the modulation stuff. Looks interesting. They’re such a smart company that I would think they’d get saturation right. Well, at least as right as anyone else. Clearly that’s a seriously tough one, given how few sound right-ish.

It works in a similar way to Decapitator but it's sort of the "milder" version of that, not as extreme sounding. Sort of like overdrive vs. distortion kind of thing. A fun/crazy one is the Waves Berzerker. Can do sort of octave fuzz and stuff like that, distortion and fuzz tones with envelope motion to them. Usually I just use tape sims, overdrive preamp channel sims, compressors with saturation (Arousor), and etc. Also prefer dirty sounding delays. Which ones do you like? I'll have to demo the Fab Pro before buying, for sure.

The compressor isn’t that great sounding either. It’s a standard digital compressor with oversampling and program dependent attack and release.

There's so much you can do with Pro-q 3 that it has really become my most used EQ. I would shell out for it any day.

Just saw I could get a nice discount on Saturn 2 in my account so I got it. Just used it in place of my usual tape suspects on a mix. Damn. This thing is fantastic. Took my virtual drums from zero to hero in a jiff.

So I jumped into Fabfilter today buying a custom bundle before their sale on bundles ends August 1st.
Though I didn't know at first they will sell custom bundles, I saw on a FF forum page that you can contact them at their info@fabfilter.com email to ask about custom bundle pricing, which worked well for buying only the plugs I wanted.

ProQ3: Essential tool for any mixer. I'm having fun doing mixes right now just with Saturn for my tape replacement and pro q3 for EQ. Feels easier at the moment.

Pro Q 3 and Saturn 2 feel like you’re cheating. Add in the Tokyo Dawn GE plugs and killer work flow! I just didn’t buy Fabfilter because Reaper has ReEQ now and Klanghelm SDRR 2 sounds better despite being less flexible. It gets the job done faster and better for less money. But if you want to stick tubes on low mids, tape bias in the bottom, and tape saturation on the sibilance in two minutes? Saturn 2 is the only way even if can’t compete with Uhe Satin’s tape and Klanghelm tube sound.

Just upgraded to eq3 from using 2 for years. My first real experience w/ dynamic eqs and I’m pretty psyched about it. Any good tips for getting the most out of (and not over-using) dynamics? I’m kind of stunned at how quickly I can get problems under control. Thanks in advance!

Don’t forget or not experiment selectively with the MS for specific elements of your mix: FF is fab !

Huge FabFilter fan here. I pretty much only use Fab Filter and UAD on everything. I have the eq, gate, compressor, multiband compressor, deesser, saturn, reverb.... all fantastic. Great user interfaces, great transparent sound .... If I need vibe its UAD :-)

It's only 69$ and does most everything that Q3 can do plus you can choose the type of phase response of some of the filters.

I’ll tell you, though - I find myself using the dynamic eq on Pro-Q3 the majority of the time. Lots of time I’ll cut a little less and then use the dynamic to catch the peaks.
