Kind of a different topic, but important I think!
I have been spoiled and been sitting in a Herman Miller Aeon chair at work for years. I love it and never ever have back issues or feel uncomfortable even sitting in them for 12 hours.
Now that I am at home, I've been in my....well I have no idea what but old ass office chair. I usually spend 4 hours a day or up so at time in it and never really had problems. But now that I've had to spend 10+ hours a day in, OUCH. My back is killing me.
So while I'll likely just get my own Aeon(despite the horrific price tag) was curious.
What do you sit in all day?

I was looking for a picture of my current chair and realized this one was taken in 2001. That's a long time to spend sitting on a cheap Office Depot chair, by the Aeon.

I like the Steelcase Leap V2....I use them at the office and at home. I've used both those and Herman Miller Aeons for years, and prefer the Steelcase chairs. The base model can be found regularly in lightly used condition for under $300 on Craigslist, at least in SoCal.

Funny, I’ve been shopping gun around for a new chair. We have Herman Miller’s at work, but I ain’t throwing down for that. Trying to find a used one. I want a mesh chair, preferably low back. I have a cheap pleather chair that is literally peeling. It’s a mess.

Also, I want one with removable arms. So annoyed with chair arms while tracking guitar. I’d been thinking about trying one of those Amazon Basics mesh office chair for less than a hundred bucks. I’m sure it won’t last.

I work from home and the past three years it hasn't been unusual for me to spend 12-14 hours a day at times at my desk. The first 1.5 years I used the IKEA Markus. Nothing adjustable about it except height, my back issues got worse, and I had back surgery a year ago. I'm not saying the Markus caused that, but it did nothing to help. And I have a sit/stand desk as well. After significant research and testing, I ended up with the Leap V2 with headrest. Comfortable, supportive, and everything is adjustable. Long days in the same position are bad no matter the chair, but this has made a significant difference for me. They're not cheap brand new, but my ongoing health is worth the investment.

Don't have Ikea out here in the boonies so never consider them. I like the Steelcase Leap V2....I use them at the office and at home. Blackdawg, here's where I got my Leap chair: officedesigns.com/ They sell a ton through different online stores as well as direct off of their site. I found them to be very helpful and good prices. They also do a good job working with you on your needs and returns. I actually visited their store when I was in the Chicago area because they have most chairs available to try out. Sales rep I worked with was Randy Lowe. If you are interested PM me and I'll get you his contact info. At the time he told me they had great deals on chairs that had been purchased and then returned, so that could be a great way to get a basically new chair for less than retail. You know, kind of like open box mics.

Costco had a HM copy for $125... unfortunately I don't remember the name. I believe we had a thread about it a while ago. Great chair. Arm rests fold back out of the way when needed. I will never use a "leather" chair for recording again, mesh suspension is the way to go.

Just to throw another idea in..I bought a leap a few years ago thinking it would help but for me using it actually increased my sciatica symptoms.I find using a good quality drum throne adjusted to be higher than a table chair and sitting at the edge of it works great for me in combination with getting up to stretch often.I have a dw throne that adjusts up and down quickly by spinning it and has a solid locking mechanism. This one is about 20 years old and is very solid-Im not sure whats available now.If you want to try it and dont have a good throne I recently bought a mapex 570 for 70 bucks for a friend thats really good for the price so good to have kicking around for drummers or guests in case you dont like it.Trying this made me infinitely more comfortable I was going nuts in the steelcase chair good luck Mike

Love My Aeron that I saved from a dumpster, a number of years ago somebody from an office in the building next to mine threw it out because of a crack in the seat! Well the cost of a new seat plus a 20 to the cleaning guy who was about to put it in the dumpster gave me a great chair. Well actually I didn’t get the new seat bottom I bought a small for my wife and swapped it out for the medium she had at work now everybody’s in a perfect comfy Aeron, except the kid !

My butt hurts. Maybe one of those funny blue honeycomb pillows they show sometimes on TV might help...? You know, the ones that can prevent an egg from breaking?

An arm removed for playing guitar? Now THAT's disarming! Chris

+1 on the Aeron. I was going thru a chair every couple of years; they'd just wear out or fall apart. The Aeron still looks like new after 10 or 11 years, and no fatigue (back/legs) no matter how long I'm in it. It just kinda disappears; I never have to think about it, if that makes sense. Buying the Aeron once is less $ than buying a cheap chair every couple of years. Also +1 on the member that said "I can't afford cheap chairs." There is much truth in that statement. For tracking, it's an Emeco 1006. Perfect posture, very comfy, and never any squeaks or creaks to wreck a take. The things are indestructible as well. Emeco 1006-09
