Thx!

Think you’re thinking of Front End? Not in Nashville. Bet I know a store that can give good prices.

It is likely - Peppers Pro Shop. I have heard he gives those types of discounts. But also, the internet says he was being sued for ghosting with a client's gear and not paying for it. And there are a bunch of unhappy people in similar situations dealing with Pepper. No discount is worth suffering a guy like that.
EDIT: I guess he left Nashville for Vegas. Makes sense.

I think he was talking about Front End. I understand they aren’t very well liked either lol Nobody likes discounters, but to some extent everybody does it. What everybody hates is the coupons or discount codes that cover manufacturers or SKU’s that according to dealer agreements should not be discounted in that way and a dealer who gets caught just getting a slap on the wrist. Of course it helps if the dealer moves a ton of gear, somebody who moves a 250 million a year is less likely to be punished than somebody who moves a million. You can get a discount on almost anything if you call or email a dealer, but most are lazy and manufacturers and dealers know this, so most just click and expect to be able to find a deep discount via google. Remember though deals are like fight club, we don’t talk about them. The worst thing you can ever do is talk about a deal somebody gave you in an open forum where other dealers or a manufacturer might see it! You might mean well but telling the world a dealer broke the rules for you can bring a bunch of hurt to that dealer. In the end for the most part you get what you pay for, service costs money, returns cost money so don’t expect much after the purchase from anybody who is willing to drop their pants and bend over for the sale. I’ll say it again, you want great prices? The best way to get there and get great service is to build a relationship and through loyalty to somebody like John Kennedy. Don’t BS don’t make promises, build a symbiotic relationship over time and your salesperson will take care of you. The thing people who are looking for a deal seldom understand is that everybody has a computer, they can see what you bought and what you paid, hell many if they are smart can see anything you have been quoted. They know if your simply buying because of price and can make the decision if your worth the discount. Hate those phone calls from a dealer who’s touching base? Well that’s a great time to score a deal! If I have time to just call out of the blue, I’m not closing deals and it might just be a great time to get me to give up some margin. Other than the clients who spent $50K or more with me the ones who got the best deals were the ones who were willing to help me help them, they were the ones who would be willing to help me meet my B-stock quota, bought into special purchases ect. Understand some things you just can’t deal on ( first thing that comes to mind Bose) some gear there just isn’t any margin. I remember a deal where I sold a very good client 2 Betacam setups at $14,000 each one day shipped from Japan, this deal involved probably 40 phone calls either with the client, my rep or Sony, the client was spending big bucks and was considering other dealers, he was giving me shit because B&H said they could do it for $1000 less after all was said and done and he must have paid my rent for a month, well I had to tell him I made less than $250 on the $28K deal! Our margin was 4%! I made more on the 1000 VHS tapes they bought that day.

All wise advice, retail is more competitive in the states. I can’t demo the gear I am interested in my town, so then I have a 5 hour round trip trip and we call that service? I can ship to myussaddress and be home with import paperwork done in 3: who ya goin to call?
