Ahhhh, here's my dilemma. I had a Warm EQP-WA that I was playing around with and as I was waiting on my Stam I came across another Warm and I figured what the heck I'll try it on 2 buss and I didn't expect to, but I loved it. The tubes did something to smooth out the mid range and vocals seemed to sit better for me. As time went on it started to bother me that the gain wasn't the same on both units. One of my pieces has a gain knob one does not. I monkeyed around for weeks on and off then I got the brilliant idea of checking the tubes. I replaced them and bam the gain was even. Fast forward a month and with this quarantine, I was forced to set up a workstation at home so I could mix. As I set everything up my 2 units are like 2.5db off. It's driving me crazy and I'm going to sell them and replace them with something else but cash is a factor at this point. Also I have one stam on the way. So now what? I do not want to wait for another Stam. Would the KT work until some funds opened up? I would love to get 2 Audioscapes but that 6 space thing is a factor and that's a chunk of change I don't have. I'm wondering if anyone's tried the Tegelar yet. @vincent R., any news on that? I tried my Alto Moda AM25's and I did not like the top end. Technology is killing me. And oh yea just because I'm already complaining, my UAD card will not work with my new computer because it's a Ryzen CPU so that route is out. Is matching two seperate units hopeless or is it just mine? Ideas? Haven’t had the funds to make the investment, so I haven’t demoed one yet. I don’t want to demo it, love it, and then have to let it go.

Not bad until you figure the add-ons and shipping which put's it between 450-500 a piece.

Well you just need to crunch your numbers How much do you think you will net if you sell your two wa eq's given that they are not a matched pair ? Then you will have to buy something else and incur new taxes and shipping charges vs the known cost of what the Revive Audio mod would be and then you have a matched pair of upgraded eq's ?

Why not just sell the Warm that doesn’t have a gain knob for one that does? Seems to be the easiest solution. Especially if you like the sound of them!

I guess I'm just gun shy of trying to find the right one that matches. Again I don't need it to be perfectly matched but just not 2-3db different.

Well I finally went ahead and picked up a pair of diyre eq5’s. In the end I would have loved the Audioscapes, but with the impending end of civilization, work has slowed, and I just didn’t feel like waiting any longer. I’m gonna grab a 2 slot horizontal rack to pop them in, and I’ll be good to go. I got them prebuilt with the vintage option for under what the kits would have cost me! Any suggestions for racks? There’s the Bento, the older A Designs, anything else? I don’t want a 3 slot chassis cause then I’m going to want to fill it lol. Thanks to everyone who chimed in here. It was all really helpful!

I'm sure they could make that happen one way or another Shipping costs a bit but the Revive mod services are very reasonably priced imo the Warm EQP mod costs a bit more than some others but they put more work into them and of course the trim knob is another $75 add on but I do love the way they sound
in my experience turnaround has always been super fast and reliable too

Doesn't DIY RE make a horizontal 2 space 500 rack?

Thanks Monkey, just ordered it!! I totally forgot they made one. Probably the best match for their gear. Looks like a simple build as well!

Don't have one yet though. Also anything to support Peterson and his business, he's a real gem of a person, who has helped me many times. Let us know how you like it!

So I built the rack a few days ago and plugged in the DIYRE eq's and I gotta say, they are fantastic! The limited bands are not limited at all and give me pretty much exactly what I'd want from a Pultec. I have them set for the broadest bandwidth and they are in "vintage mode" with the DOA and transformer. Just killer. Plenty of heft and sparkle. Don't know what else you could ask for!
So far I've tried them on drum buss, vocal buss, keys, and mixes. Every time I disengage it's like the music just sounds broken. A little easy to overdo, but I'm sure I will get more subtle as I use them more. I'll try and post some samples at some point!

The DIYRE ones are great! I customized mine with different CAPI transformers and components (frequency options) that suited my taste.
I do want to eventually get a full featured Pultec (both EQP-1A and MEQ-5, also even a HLF-3c would be nice), but for now they work!

I hope this is okay to add this link to this particular thread, because these are not hardware Pultecs. I don't know how these would compare to other plugins, but these demos didn't sound too bad to me via earbuds: www.noiseash.com/rule-tec-all-collection/PS: I do own 2 pairs of the re-issue 500 series (MEQ-500 / EPQ-500S) Pultecs by Dr. Steve Jackson, and they're not anything I will ever sell. Unfortunately, I don't have access to nor have I ever used other options mentioned in this thread, so... I guess I'm not adding much to the conversation, actually, except a link to a plugin I had never heard of until last night.

Just an update for my craziness. I sold the Warm EQ's and bought a pair of KT EQP-KT's. I know that's a step backwards but I was curious. I'm not sure I liked them on the 2 buss but I was very impressed with the usability of these in other areas. I ended up getting an Elysia xFilter for my 2 buss that is doing what I want it to do. I may pull the trigger some day on the Audioscape pultecs. Who knows.

I haven't used it, but the Rule-Tec has a bit of a cult following over at the purple site. I can't remember if I said this earlier in this thread, but generally if I don't have enough processing power for Acustica Purple, I use the Black Rooster Pultec option, which sounds good.

I found the results of this video kind of surprising. The Audio Scape EQP1 definitely gets the job done, but sounds different than the vintage unit. I'm aware that there are many variables to why, but I thought I'd share so others could hear it and discuss.

I have both the Audioscape EQP1 and MEQ. I like them a lot. Not sure that I have enough experience or the "ears" that would let me be able to draw comparisons with vintage units. I just know that I like what mine do.

Filters, 'regular', and the mid band one, so you can do a lot with it. Pultec plugins that I like and will use: Black Rooster UAD Noise Ash IK Multimedia You can listen to them all day, they basically behave like slightly different versions of the same thing, with subtle differences in tone and overall EQ response. The UAD is very transparent, the Black Rooster a little lighter sounding, the Noise Ash has the most vibe and color, weight, IK is pretty thick sounding.

Is there a Pultec style stereo eq out there with one set of controls for both channels? Just came across this thread as I was recently about to pull the trigger on a Retro 2a3. Just learned that Bettermaker came out with one as you describe. It also works in tandem with its own plugin that allows you to store and recall presets. Now I can’t decide… www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/StereoPassEQ--bettermaker-stereo-passive-equalizer
