Pockets are empty and car repairs kicking my rear. Stam helios 69 electrodyne 2501 Retro 500 pre Aml ez1081 Rnd 551 Electrodyne 2511 Chandler TG12345 MKIV All on wish list I have a pair of those Electrodyne preamps in rack form and I love them. Hard to describe where they fit in the Neve-API spectrum, but they definitely do a “vintage” heavy thing really well, while still retaining lots of detail. so you got the preamp, not the EQs. is the sound very colored? if its between Neve-APi thats a pretty good combo. heard a lot about these pres/eq.. i may get the EQ to try out. They had an updated B revision to the EQ with more freq points not sure if they still offer it.

Lots of low mid “weight/color” if that’s the term you wanna use, plus I find they have some nice presence in the upper mids without being strident. They’re really pleasant to listen to if you stack a bunch of tracks with them. I like them more than my Heritage 1073’s which I sold for these. I also have some BAE 312’s that I love, but they do a totally different thing. Much clearer and faster than the Electrodynes.

Anyway if it's not too much ask please post something you recorded. Very curious to hear how it sounds stacked

The drums were the only thing it wasn't used on. This is older demo stuff so the mixes aren't perfect but you'll get the idea! www.dropbox.com/s/g6qjwbs5gtiliya/Basement%20Demo.wav?dl=0www.dropbox.com/s/q5zz5jiypadh5ph/Deep%20Water%20Master.wav?dl=0

Hey bro great songs. I went to check the pres but stuck around for the songs, great compositions. I see what you mean that they have their own thing going. Thanks for posting

some really sharp songwriting, enjoyed these, the first one has kind of a Strokes vibe with the guitar sound. good recording quality also. kind of makes me want to try to write some songs, thanks for the inspiration.

Thanks Monkey! Getting back to gear, it’s interesting how when I get a new preamp, I tend to record everything with it. It’s fun to go back and listen to what those tracks sound like.

Yeah, when I got my API 3124 back in the day it was ALL API ALL THE TIME for a while. Blew my mind coming from, I don't remember, probably interface preamps. I was posting all over the forums about preamps probably for two years after that. Then it was all about 2520 op amps for another couple years. Kind of makes me want to buy some more preamps now haha.

So I literally had a dream where I had bought a 500 rack. Also, there is a UM70S on ebay.
I need neither.

I did a Female vocal tracking session at a buddies studio yesterday. Had my Tg mic and he had a Soyuz FET. That Soyuz absolutely destroyed the tg on her voice - no contest.
...really want one now.
(Still love my tg, just not on female vocals or acoustic gtr)

I deserve it though for these compressor reviews I’ve done 😂
