...I think that's Fire Station in San Marcos, TX. I've tracked there as a guitarist and mixed there as an engineer a few times. Pretty sure.

...I also ran FOH for Doyle Bramhall Sr. Who wrote most of SRV's hits. Funny how many people never heard of SRV. I was mixing Dolye in Austin outdoors once and someone asked "who's this? He's great". I'd answer and say he wrote music for Stevie Ray Vaughn. "Who's Stevie Ray Vaughn"? Mind blowing.

I was a big SRV in my teens picked up his licks by ear transcribed them. And I still travel back in time when I listen to his music. I saw everything I can get on YT because that wasn't there in the 80-90s It was true blessing to see that he was the person I had in my mind. Friendly open-minded and full of love for everyone who was around. ...I think that's Fire Station in San Marcos, TX. I've tracked there as a guitarist and mixed there as an engineer a few times. I did not know this I thought he wrote the most of it by himself? But I know the name Doyle Bramhall Sr. and I am from the EU... reading is a blessing.

In the 00 I had a short e-mail conversation with Tommy Shannon it seemed like that he was still grieving, and he had private pictures on his website online. I guess it was about 400 pictures. Behind the scene, the real SRV. I just wrote something like that it is interesting to see the real human behind all the perfect marketing. It touched him and he did send me a mail.

I was born here, yes (Austin). Doyle wrote a lot for/with him. His wife, Barbara wrote Life By The Drop. That woman has amazing ears. I was soundchecking Doyle at the (empty) Kukko Areena in Rauma, Finland and she says "his voice sounds like crap - too much mids"! So I'm thinking, which mids? I grab 1khz on his vocal channel and drop it about a DB...she's standing 20 feet in front of me and the sec I adjusted 1k a DB she turned her head and said "much better". Then she told me "you know I wrote this song"? (Life by the drop). She blew my mind twice in 30 seconds. She's really cool. Super proud I got to work for Doyle RIP, sir. Also worked with the Arc Angels a few times and they are a killer band you should check out if you have not. Doyle junior is a guitar hero...so is Charlie Sexton. Both nice guys to work with too. Very cool. Must be in the air, there was a burst of concert tape traders sharing shows last month, and there must've been 180 shows shared through wetransfer.

Hats off to the engineers who artfully deal with single coil noise...recently watched a YouTube video of Jeff Beck in the studio soloing on someone else’s record...
The noise coming out of his guitar when not playing kind of shocked me how crazy loud it was...
But I guess if you want those tones...

Super nice dude. That’s the extent of my memory of that event.
