Best of luck! They come up so rarely. I was lucky to grab one from Stayne, and it's honestly a stunning mic. Makes the U87 a cross between a C12 and a U47. Very nice. I hope you can find one!!!
Looks like I have one coming from Stayne soon. (hence I removed WTB from the thread title) Based on your take and a few others, I guess I need to hear this thing!
Another comrade swears it hangs w/ his big $$ U's, and he often reaches for the IT87 over his 47 so...that sounds like a thing to take seriously.
I ultimately feel like it's just downright efficient & frugal to get significantly more mileage outta the 87 as compared to buying another LDC tube mic in the same money ball park. At least that's what I'm going with to get the wife to acquiesce Soon to see/hear.

My new impressions, been testing out a newly arrived IT kit the past few days. The depth it brings is really appreciable. Bottom end, clarity up top. ie; Depth
Trying different Amperex Holland tubes (a fave of Stayne) to find a gem that's noise is low enough. It can be susceptible to the noise a tube stage can introduce as it's very sensitive to different tubes but, when you find a gem...
I can hear why some love what it brings to the 87 flexibility-wise. Especially for vocals. Not sure what the neysayers are hearing but, I'm digging it a lot thus far.
