I was eyeing this too, love the amp sound of the Sta Level.

Looks awesome, and the price isn’t bad either. They say it can also be used as a limiter.

Holy HEAT batman, 3 tubes in there? Can you imagine a 10space rack full of these?

Holy HEAT batman, 3 tubes in there? Can you imagine a 10space rack full of these? I bet it'd keep the studio warm here in the colder months. Can't wait to hear some samples and see some video's of what it can do. Had to do some digging but at a price of $759 I'm keeping my eyes posted....though I do think it's a little confusing they call it a pre, but its a compressor? If it is just the same "circuit topology" as its bigger brother, no doubt the rack version probably has more goodies/sounds better right?Who knows...

These look cool.... I'm in the market for a couple of tube channels. Can't wait to hear some clips.

I do think it's a little confusing they call it a pre, but its a compressor? If it is just the same "circuit topology" as its bigger brother, no doubt the rack version probably has more goodies/sounds better right?Who knows... 'Same topology' means 3 push-pull stages, similarity ends there really. Maybe they are using the same transformers as the Sta-level they build. In the same vein you could maybe say 'same topology as' an SA-39, 436, etc, basically many old tube comps. Push-pull means 2nd harmonic is cancelled mostly, with 3rd harmonic dominant, so in vein of Altec 458/459, Langevin AM-5116-B, McCurdy AU300. I suspect it's a 'compressor' in that it overloads with a very smooth low ratio, not that it's actually a compressor. You can drive drums and distorted guitar through certain old tube preamps at full tilt and they will clip in an inaudible manner, with flat-lined waveforms. Many that people generally drool over (REDD47, V72/76, AM-5116-B, AU300, 610, MB-1, BA-1/11/21A) don't do that.

Anyone hear one of these yet? I have a couple of these. I have only had a chance to use so far on a couple of sources including voice, but... I can say that they are very full and lush and warm. Definitely a vintage vibe to my ear. Really beautiful sounding pres. They soften transients which in my book is generally a very good thing. If you’re looking for ultra pristine and uncolored, don’t get these. They compliment natural sounding sources but are colored and lush. But they don’t sound squashed or smashed.

I've used one for (distorted) electric guitar recordings last week. I've paired it with different mics (SM57, Beyer M160) but it didn't feel right. But it was a perfect pair with a mono room Coles 4038 on drums.

I thought they sounded pretty clean and modern on the vintageking demos. Anything recorded with them you could share?

I’ve thought about this one. Anyone know if it’s similar to the one in the power strip? Because I thought that thing sounded fantastic.

Would love to try one of these out. A PowerStrip has long been on my wishlist, along with their Sta-Level. Actually, I don't think there's a piece of Retro gear that I don't want. Gimme all of it.

Running three 12AT7s at merely 20v on the plate (according to msamper's measurments). Very low current draw.
It looks cool enough and I'm sure the designers, who know much more than me, have squeezed out every bit they can. There is definitely a market for such a 500 piece.

Of course there was definitely a market for the Ford Pinto and those guys were smarter than me😎
