I left a message today, with someone at Tonelux. I asked them to respond to this thread. Their JC37 tube microphone, is a wonderful vocal mic IMHO. Chris P.S. You can also just call them. They're very good about answering calls, during business hours.

In stock right now at Sweetwater. 5 left at $2500 or only $417 a month... oh, the temptation. But these are cardioid only, right?

They are cardioid. The originals changed patterns with a mechanical device, and Tonelux didn't want to replicate that. Joe Ciccarrelli (who was the driving force behind the mic) aid something to the effect that he almost never used the vintage models in omni. Someone at Tonelux said something in a thread, that they might be able to do one offs with omni.

The power supply obviously powers 2 mics. I'm curious how much the second mic without power supply is... Anyone know?

I believe it’s $2k for the mic only, $2.5k for the mic + PSU and $4.3k for a pair + PSU

Nothing else I've ever heard, like the Sony C37a/Tonelux. Amazing engineering feat, for the Japanese originators IMHO. Chris

I have access to an original pair and they are lovely. Indeed, but good ones are getting harder and harder to find !

It's truly a "labor of love" for Joe C. We had quite a conversation about it (and Sinatra) at NAMM. I really dig it, when the "enthusiasts" and "developer"s are one and the same. Chris

Chris Joe's an amazing dude is MANY ways. We were on a TapeOpCon drum recording panel/demo years ago. He's a huge inspiration.

Yes! Jack Douglas/Warren Huart/John Cuniberti/Ed Stasium/Massenburg were also super cool, when I met them too. Chris

I have a pair of c37a's and c37p's. They really are incredible mics. But I never loved them in omni either, so I can see why Tonelux skipped creating the moving part that removes the "shield" which creates the cardioid pattern. I'd love to hear them up against mine, but haven't seen any up in Canada yet.

Funny thing, is that I'm re-watching the Temptations 1998 Miniseries... Sony C37a at Hitsville, shown for "The Way You Do The Things You Do" Studio recordings. What's next... SM7 on "My Girl"? Chris

They’re closed at the moment...but claim a turnaround time of 3-4 weeks. I would think that’s a favorable estimate. Please contact your local...ahem...retailer.
