I signed up, but it's not clear how to use the site properly and it's a bit confusing. It's probably in a late beta stage. They need a simple tutorial on how to use the site. It's amazing the lengths they went to for this. Alex Oana is a great guy with great ears and massive experience. I'd trust his ears any day. I hope this works out well for him.

The site needs a bit of work. You drag the microphones up to the top 5 to compare. You can send them to your cupboard when you're done or delete them. If you delete them they disappear from the master list. You can go to your cupboard and see the ones you deleted, but the view is awkward and only shows the first 18 deleted alphabetically. Once you've selected some to compare you go to the top player and you can select an instrument or switch from solo to "stacked effect" to hear the full mix using that mic. I actually had a fun morning listening to a bunch of these mics. Some take aways for me after a bried listen this morning: -The BLUE Bottle is probably off my list now. I just don't think it's that special accept when used with the B6 capsule where it really does that C12ish thing. -I still love the Bock 251 every time I hear it. -I thought the Bock ifet was really nice and really competed with the Neumann U47 FET. I prefered both to the FleA Superfet. -The FleA 47 and Bock 47 were my favorites on the 47s. I lean toward the FleA which sounded more vintage. The WA47 actually wasn't that bad in comparison. It's still not in the big league, but I liked it better than the BLUE Bottle with the B7.
I preferred the Manley Reference Gold to the Josephson 715 and the Telefunken E C12.
-The U87ai and BLUE Kiwi are practically interchangeable, but each does their own thing. -The Mojave 300 wasn't as rich sounding as the TLM67. The JZ67 was close to the TLM67, but the TLM67 had more weight. -I really liked the Telefunken Copperhead CU-29 and I want to check one out. -They had the Wunder CM49S, but not the FleA 49....sad. I just wish they had added some SDCs and Ribbons to this.

I was really impressed with the video showing how they do the comparisons. Immense work and very detailed, in a sense that you can take it seriously more than what we normally find on the internet.
The site is not perfect, but good enough when you get how it works. BTW, they do have a tutorial video, but it's a little hard to find.
On the Warren video we can see that they are recording 4-5 songs with drums included, but in this beta we only have 1 song without drums. Also, they say they will add SMC and Ribbons next. Looks promising.

Yeah, that's where I went. There is no opportunity to enter a code. It allowed me to subscribe to the newsletter by entering my email, but that's it.

Try starting here: www.audiotestkitchen.com/ You should see a "Get Early Access Now" button that will take you to the screen where you enter the code. Also, FYI that they indicate it must be accessed from a computer, not a mobile device.

Excellent find, Vincent! Did you happen to try the Flea 47 yet? I'm honestly not able to find another 47-ish mic that I am liking better on her voice and the full band than the Flea. Chad

Thanks.

Wow, this is very cool even though it's obvious that it's still in beta.
It's not the most intuitive interface but once you get how it works it is a valuable tool.
My main feedback to them is going to be to always have both a male and female vocal for the songs, if possible. Thanks Vincent!

Excellent find, Vincent! Did you happen to try the Flea 47 yet? I'm honestly not able to find another 47-ish mic that I am liking better on her voice and the full band than the Flea. Chad Yes. My friend jtc111 brought his FleA 47 over to my place a while back. I had used a Wagner U47 a while back for a session and while the FleA wasn’t as beefy sounding as the Wagner (VF14s do that) I actually prefer the FleA. FleA really tunes the sound of their mics for vocals. When I finally find an excuse to get a 47 style mic for my studio it will be the FleA 47. 47s are a little thick on my voice, and after hearing the FleA 47 in my studio I rushed out and managed to demo a few different FleA 49 configurations (tubes, capsules, etc), fell in love and grabbed one in my preferred configuration. It quickly became my go to microphone on myself and my wife. I actually have a second one on order and should get it in about a week. Here is part of the session/shootout I did when I first tried Jim’s FleA 47.

I bought my Flea 47 two summers ago brand new. But, that was when I was first planning out my studio, which I have just finished the summer. I can actually begin tracking something finally! ;-) Your voice sounds really good on any mic though. So, you don't have to think too hard! Chad

I created an account, but can't find a login page. I keep getting the "create an account page". I was in no problem yesterday, but having the same issue as you today, Martin. Guessing it's the whole "beta" thing that's messing the login up.

Alex Oana will get it working soon I'm sure. It's an incredible task they've taken on. I wonder, will advertising cover the cost of putting this together?

This is cool, but still not a replacement for trying the microphones in your own space. Nothing will ever replace first hand demoing.

I was surprised how much I liked the Sony c800g on vox, really liked the bock 251 too. The SE RNT wasn’t bad either.

I tried a very loose but interesting experiment using ATK last night. Some of you know I have a Peluso 2247SE that I have struggled to have fit my vocals, and actually have it up for sale. I've been interested in the FLEA 47 as one of several mics I'd like to demo. My thought-process was, what if I could eq the Peluso clip on ATK so it sounded close to the FLEA, and then use those eq settings on my actual mic. Would that give me a broad-brush idea of what a FLEA may sound like?
So I pulled up ATK and populated two slots with those mics. I selected the soloed female vocal, picked a section, set to loop, and ran the playback through my interface/headphones with my Electra eq inserted. I engaged/adjusted the Electra when listening to the Peluso clip and bypassed it when listening to the FLEA. I was able to alternate between the two mic clips quickly, and eq'd the Peluso clip as close as possible to the FLEA. I referenced the frequency charts as a general starting point on the Electra.
It goes without saying that there are a lot of variables in play, and this was far from a perfect experiment. I know my Peluso is not a FLEA, nor will it ever be. EQ does not a FLEA make. But, when I plugged my 2247SE into my vocal chain and patched in the Electra with the settings from the comparison, I dare say it sounded better on my voice than it ever has. Not that my vocal couldn't still benefit from some eq in the mix, but it gives a much different starting point. Could be wishful thinking or placebo effect, but it almost makes me want to take it off of Reverb for now and try recording with it again.
I may try the same approach with my ADK-Z251 and the Telefunken ELA M 251E clips.
I know this is probably not relevant for anyone else here or an approach you all would take, but I found it pretty interesting.
