Can this connect to the ACA's insert without requiring a balancing box, like an Ebtech LLS-2? Are you still considering putting out a stereo bus comp, or would a pair of these be suitable?
Also, can you connect the ACA, Panner, and Fader Pack, and still utilize the insert feature of the ACA? I'm having a hard time picturing the cabling layout for the Awesome Console, incorporating all 3 components (4 with the Channel Comp).

Hi Stu
No balancing box is required to connect the compressor to a channel amp's insert. Simply set the jumper for the loop on the edge connector of the channel amp to the appropriate position and plug in the compressor, done.
A pair of these would absolutely sound fantastic on a buss, we still have plans to do a 19" buss compressor however it is likely a year or more away and will be a much different beast. This compressor wound up coming out so good, we will have our work cut out with a buss comp to come up with something as good but different, dont want to just repackage the same thing in 19".
The insert on the Channel Amp IS the fader loop, so if you want to use long throw faders in a console setup, that is where they need to go.

Thanks for the info. I wasn't sure if you could run the fader off the Panner's extra TRS jack, and thus free up the ACA's extra TRS jack for the insert. I'm cool with running in series, especially since the Channel Comp has the blend feature.

Stu- The Panner does not have an extra TRS jack, the mix buss is patched through the panners via both TRS jacks on a Purple Audio Sweet Ten (and as such is the reason they only work in a sweet ten as shown below or a radial with custom cables). Take a look at this diagram for a clear illustration on how to patch the panners for summing: In the above diagram, mix out left and right patch to a pair of mic pres for makeup gain, we'll have our buss amps for the console (which are mic pres) ready we hope this summer. more information is on the product page: awtac.com/products/pannerPanners CAN be used with a fader, but you'd wire the output of the fader to the XLR input of each Panner. The Panner's input can receive mic or line level, its just a high impedance buffer in there.

Used 3 of them on a mix last night. A pair on my drum/bass bus and 1 on the bass. Just fantastic, flexible, powerful compressors. Drive stage is great. Seperate dry and wet faders is perfect. To me a much better method than a mix knob. I love these compressors. I put them right to work and haven't explored them completely but in 5 minutes I came to understand that they are VERY flexible and can produce a LOT of different behaviors. Very sexy compressor. Love

What's the world now about Awtac gear? Their channel amp and compressor are both over 1k€ here in Europe. At this price point there's a lot of possibilities including non-500 gear. Would you still say they're that great?

It's a shame that the company is all but gone.
Nice to see a link to my dead buddy's review though. Garges loved ALL things AwTac
