I have to say - and I'm not looking for any responses (or sympathy) to this - but it's getting tiresome for me. I get PM's complaining about the way I run things. I get PM's accusing me of things. I have had Manufacturers mad at me for not deleting things. I've had Manufacturers mad at me for deleting things. I have had people pissed at me for the same reasons. I've had people accuse me of being a shill. There's a huge contingent of the pro audio community that looks down on me and this board because of snobbery. There's a huge contingent of people that think I'm one of the snobs. And the list goes on and on. But the really cool part of it is, I get to PAY for all this to keep it going...and I didn't mind that for the last six years, but I'm not going to continue if it continues to devolve. Honestly, i have a few thoughts on this. First I think its sad you're feeling down on a pretty nice forum you've created. Which I don't think you should ever let get to you, you can't create a place of open discussion and let you're own feelings and such get in the way. Have to "look at the greater good" so to speak. Which I believe you do for the most part, I don't see you ban a lot of people for what they say which is great. But I have seen you talk down to people on occasion or snap back. We all do it. We are all human. But as basically "God of RGO" you should check yourself more on that front I think..no offense.. I've also never in my life(and I am a HUGE forum user) ever seen an admin so involved in his own site. This as much a cool/good thing as I think it can be a bad thing for several reasons such as some you've listed. Can create a conflict of interest if you are getting kick backs from vendors and then they are expecting things in return..thats a vicious cycle. This is also one of the only forums I've ever been on with almost no moderators. Which I think you should reconsider. This site its getting more and more users, you should have to bear the burden of dealing with all the crap all the time. Thats what Mods are for. You should have a clear Code of Conduct that is easy to find and that the Mods can refer to when making decisions. Granted this isn't a HUGE forum, but could be in the future and that change needs to happen before that ever happens. I know it hard to let go of control, but I'm sure you have several folks here you'd trust a lot to help enforce rules and in general, just help out with spreading the love. I know Jerome is a Mod, but thats the only one I know of and he isn't super active all the time. I don't even know of any others...and that's not good. The more you let others do the dirty work, the more you can enjoy why you created this in the first place. Something to think about. A lot of good can come from that. Better layout of the forum, better policing, better useage of the site. Now...if you pick the wrong people and they go too far, it'll ruin a forum in a heart beat. The next is a Code of Conduct, or rules. It is not easy to find this on this site. I think you should make easier to find and easy to be able to contact other mods, again, i don't even know any other mods. This is all my opinion which in reality is just that. But this is a forum and its basically for voice all our own opinions about anything. Yay free speech! Don't mean to insult..just some observations from a very big and long time forum user across multiple topics and sites. IMO, Tacomaworld.com is the best forum I've been on in terms of how the site works, is laid out, the users, the mods, the admin, and the lines that are defined for the rules and how they are enforced. That forum is about 10x bigger or more than here but whatever. back to the shadows....as I have no idea really what has caused all of this in the first place anyways...I thought things were fine!

Hmmm.. You made some good points. IMHO if there were one or two active RGO Moderators-in addition to John, I would certainly hope that would make John K's life much easier here. (I do like it, when Jerome posts BTW) Chris

When you’re banning people who didn’t break forum rules but who simply have opinions about gear you don’t like...and then after banning them you make multiple posts that then defer to the very points the poster you banned made....well, yeah, maybe you’re wound a bit too tight. You seem like you have a lot to learn, and don’t have much experience in recording, dealing with clients, etc. I wish you good luck, but get your head out of your ass man. Just because you hit a button and made a forum doesn’t mean much. The posters aren’t your little props to make you happy, and say the things you want to say. You are a real control freak, and need to get the shit out of your ears and listen up. Listen to people who know more than you, listen to the people you’re recording, etc. One day you’re going to need to come to terms with that and get over it. Better sooner than later. Spend a little time reflecting about how worked up you got yourself to send that first Upton to a con man, and inspire plenty of other people to get ripped off. Maybe back off a little bit. You still have plenty to learn. This forum is like a distillate of the worst crap from GS.

But I digress, I have nothing else to say about this subject and won't, I'd much rather go talk about microphones in other threads

Pretty much haven't read this thread; pretty much don't care whats in it...
Just want to say thanks JK for dedicating his time to maintain this website and put up with people's BS. Anytime you have an open forum, its alot to deal with since people in general can be alot to deal with.
This is John's forum, not a democracy. People might not agree with his every decision but how often do you agree on every issue even with your closest friends/family? This is a great little getaway from other pro audio forums and if you don't like it or how its run, then feel free to take a hike! The internet is a big place so go find somewhere else to hangout!

So I’ve now had to ban George Toledo from Brandon, GL for a third time. I guess he’s gone to the extreme of using some kind of vpn to avoid the ip ban. This guy is sick in the head and it’s actually pretty threatening. In the last post I just deleted, he accused me of getting kicked off GS for selling faulty gear. Not true. I didn’t read the whole thing but accused me of something to do with Shannon and the Upton stuff.
I find it really interesting that he seems to be in Brandon, FL ten minutes from where the Upton’s are made and he was upset that I took my original Upton and had the capsule replaced.
