I am sure the Heiserman mic will weigh the same as a vintage long body 47.. all of the metal work is the same material as the original.

Just opened this one up...and that’s as tight and as clean of a build as I’ve ever seen. And when I say heavy - I would say yeah - about 2 pounds. Seems like I have picked up the Telefunken and fleas and thought they were light.

As I use it more for some vocals, I’ll post.

I think they want to wait and post the pics of the production model. This one is missing little details like the logo on the transformer and other stuff. Hey wave you guys going to offer the ability to buy a second head basket?

One tube. EF800. But I’ll let the Heiserman guys get into the details. I don’t know what I’m talking about.

Hey wave you guys going to offer the ability to buy a second head basket? We're considering offering a 2nd headbasket so you can switch capsules easily.... not sure what the pricing would be like yet.

I’m curious as to what transformer the mic uses, although I understand if you want to keep it under wraps. My understanding is they have Cinemag making a version of the BV-08 for them recordinghacks.com/microphones/Neumann/U-47 But tskguy or mdmitch2 would probably be able to speak more accurately about the Heiserman 47 Choob mic. Or Dave Wheeler, as he is also an important member of the team. That's cool that Dave Wheeler is involved. I had never heard of him until the Mic Rehab fiasco, but after hearing about him rescuing everyone's mics from there the man is a hero as far as I'm concerned. Next time I need a mic tech that's who I'm going to.

Next time I need a mic tech that's who I'm going to. More than just that, he's an expert in the microphone world. He's a circuit man! Amongst other things. Very talented, very genuine and nice fella to work with. P.S. to reach him, tag him, wave. Say it again . . . AT WAVE

Does it do Fig 8? Cheers, Ross No. Cardioid/Omni just like a traditional U47. The figure 8 capable similar mic is actually different topology, with a rear diaphragm polarizing line. Think U48 how is it Neumann shipped all their U48s with an extra U47 headbasket that was both plug and play AND hot swappable? This has always been a mystery to me, and I would hope that you tskguy or mdmitch2 could answer that, please.

If the other 2 are the same pinout and location then yes you can put a kk47 assy on the U48 and achieve card/omni. Omni is usually done by putting the rear diaphragm to the same potential as the front. So in the U47, they are connected together by the head assy switch. Make sense? EDIT: You can "hot swap" any socketed head assy like that as the bias voltage is at pico amps up there...

Here's a link to the shootout files recorded at Sputnik... it was separate takes recorded back to back using the same console channel on a Neve 8014. There's a no EQ at all, and just a bit of compression going in, and some reverb. The vintage u47 was one of the favorites of the Blackbird collection.... serial number 136, and it had a k47 capsule in it. Sputnik Session FilesThe picture below is from the session; the first mic is the vintage mic and the 2nd and 3rd are Heiserman mics. I'll also have some video clips ready in the next several days.

The way it lightly distorted and crushes consonants into a butter that it spreads over the rest of the vocal is just one of the most beautiful things ever., Amazingly . . . The H47 holds its own

Wow, that's a nice demonstration of the sound of your gorgeous mic Heiserman! I think the U47 in this demonstration has a little more air on the top, but its subtle and both sound incredible. I can't imagine anyone complaining about the sound of your H47T.

Sounds great. I wish it was the same take, picking up on some performance differences (and maybe proximity?) differences that hard difficult to parse out. The U47 feels a little more emotional to me. Not sure why, just something I'm feeling. I dunno, maybe I'm just hearing things. Also feels like the U47 might be a touch smoother in the upper mids (3-5k) and a smidge more hairy sounding? Or not. Could just be performance/different takes. I'm only listening on crappy 7506's.
Regardless, sounds killer guys. I have a 47 clone with a Thiersch M7, Grosser hand selected EF12 and a Flea Transformer/body/headbasket. A killer mic in it's own right, but here I am toying with the idea of ditching it for this. Great sounding mic you all made.
