Damn. Really don’t need an M7, but I want one. Just more midrange? Always though the M7s I’ve heard we’re a little more bass shy and pushed in the middle. Maybe even a little brighter on top.

My sense is that Heiserman's M7 capsule, will stand up to the Pre-2000 Gefell M7 capsules. And the historical Neumann M7. Chris

My sense is that Heiserman's M7 capsule, will stand up to the Pre-2000 Gefell M7 capsules. And the historical Neumann M7. Chris i have several (5?) Pre-2000 Gefell M7's - all in M71S or UM70's. Not sure how to even quantify the similarities or differences in this mic. Sonically quite a bit different due to the mic topology itself. PS - Maybe H47t thru a neve (solid state) pre - backed off a bit; and one of the Gefell's up close and personal thru a Locomotive or Coil tube pre? That might even things out for comparison....

It doesn't look like we've shipped one to Chicago. But if you wanted to order one without hearing it first, there's a 14 day trial period, so you could return it if it's not working on your voice.

I got my HM7 Headbasket today. Many thanks to Matt from Heiserman for making this happen so easily. Again, great product, with exemplary build quality, and great customer service. Matt quickly walked me thru the head basket swap and it was super easy. Takes all of a minute or two, and is even simple enough for someone who has never taken a mic apart before. Luckily, I have, and I know which end of the screwdriver to hold.... heh heh... Opened up a track in PT and sang a couple of lines with both capsules. The M7 sounds just like what I expected and hoped it would sound like. More vintage sounding, a tad bit warmer, and maybe - although this could have been mic position - a tad bit quieter. Not sure about that one though. There's no doubt that with these two capsules, this mic is a very versatile contender. Many thanks to Matt and Eric and everyone else at Heiserman for delivering such great products at very affordable pricing. Cheers, bp PS - Chrome for HM7, Matte for HK47!! Nice! How much is it for the extra basket? Looks like it just plugs in as well? Or is there soldering involved?

Plug & play. No soldering. I'd suggest contacting Matt @ Heiserman for price / availability.

Ward, since you now have the FET and tube models... I'd be cool to learn how you are going to use each type/on what. I suppose the easy guesses, are FET on Kick, tube on vocals. How about other things? Thanks, Chris

This microphone just keeps getting better and better and better!! We absolutely LOVE ours to the moon and back. Turn it on and let it warm up for an hour before singing, for optimal sound capture!! And . . .HAPPY THANKSGIVING

Yeah - used mine on a work for hire I was doing a couple days ago...was kind of a Springsteen kinda thing...not screaming vocals...and it was just huge on bottom and exactly what I wanted. No EQ. Don’t think I’ve ever done that. Actually, I think I pulled back a little 3.2 on the pre going in. But just slightly.

Good gack, but gack in that range.
