It doesn't have enough rack space, though. I need 18 RU, plus supporting a fully weighted keyboard (Kronos x73) plus keeping the mouse and keyboard at an ergonomic height and reach. I've only seen the Malone and Sterling Modular desks do that, but they're $$$$

This is a nice desk like what your talking about: output.com/platformBuilt in rack space, sliding lower deck, cable management. Nice design really. Lol that looks like a picnic table at a public park!

Interesting that you borrowed the T4B replacement design from Peter Purpose's LaZ-La3A from GroupDIY. His PCB has been discontinued for years, but the idea for dealing with the optical cells is cool. Nice Lil project! Are you gonna do a front panel for it?

Anyone got a suggestion for composer-type tables? I've been using the same IKEA Jerker desk for probably a decade now, with my mouse and keyboard resting top of my keyboard: http://instagram.com/p/BY8gYcDhNYk it's starting to really annoy me, as the desk isn't strong enough to support a fully-weighted keyboard being played. And i've totally worn away the paint where I use the mouse.

well, when you go with DSUB as your IO connector, you kinda have to deal with banks of 8.

extra DA chips are expensive, when you just need 2 more channels. if you can save $10/unit and are producing 20,000 units, how much are you're saving?
Also, you gotta remember that the Symphony was designed back when big studios used a console for monitor outs, so it just needed regular line outs to feed a console. it wasn't designed for consumer usage without a big 24+ channel console connected to it.

So what does giving partial credit to someone else do anyway? Do they get some percentage of the royalties? ..50%? ..25%? Who decides? When you credit them as co-writer, it's just like when you write a tune with 2 other people: each person gets 33% of the writer's credit. ASCAP or BMI split up the payments according to that split. 5 writers? it's split 5 ways.

every time I do a wedding gig, whenever we play this tune, it is part of a medley where the 2nd tune is "Let's Get It On" by Marvin Gaye. They're the same damn song, regardless of the difference in melody and lyric. Ed's not fooling anyone. I've seen gospel producers do the same thing with other vintage pop tunes, and their safety net is that they CREDIT the original artist and original songwriter as co-writers of the tune. You can't sue for ownership of something you already own! I'm pretty sure there are other pop tunes released in the last 5 years where the artist credited the original artists as co-writers to prevent this EXACT SAME SITUATION.

you should be deprecating your equipment. lol I believe you mean "Depreciating", not deprecating. Deprecating is what Apple will do to OpenGL in the coming years.

The whole "select the track and the DAW highlights everything in the track" is an absolutely stupid Logic'ism. so turn that option off: uncheck "Select regions on track selection"

fyi a big reason UAD plugins have so much latency is that the chips are running at very slow clock speeds. a lot of 3rd party UAD developers hate developing for them for this reason. save your cash for a modern computer and go native.

I've got a really fantastic Drum Tec E. Drum kit which is full sized drums with "Real Feel" triple ply heads on it and it feels almost identical to my acoustic drums to play. Combined with a Roland module for monitoring (I record the MIDI stream to trigger SD3 or SSD afterwards) I can easily record a drum track with the same feel and sound as the video. I think whilst it's true a part like the one in the video would be darn tricky to program - with a modern E Kit set up it is easy to get any drum part you want - if you can play drums of course :-) Is there a way to record the audio from the Roland module and then convert to MIDI later? The reason I ask is that so far I record everything to my RADAR24 but then transfer later to computer, if necessary, for further editing/plugins/etc. no, it spits out stereo audio.

grrrr... I was getting ready to pull the trigger on the UVI Attack EP88 for $74.00. Checked the specs and it only supports Win 8 and above. That's why I couldn't install UVI Workstation before. Most software/plugins still supports Win 7 and a lot still supports XP... Think I'll try layering a couple of Rhodes emulations before I splurge on the more expensive stuff. The track I'm doing isn't keys centered anyway; just adding some feel. you might find this post interesting, especially the part where some big-name plugin developers share some stats about their userbase's operating system selection: forum.juce.com/t/os-x-10-6-support-survey/25877 Basically, the #1 cross-platform API that the majority of plugin developers use to write their plugins is discontinuing support for old operating systems because IT'S TIME and you guys should get with the times and stop using XP/Windows 7 already. The tools available on more modern operating systems are reason alone to update, not just for developers but for end-users too. (reFX, SoundRadix, UVI, and ValhallaSound all chimed in on the thread with percentages of how many of their users use these older operating systems. you might have to scroll a while to find their posts)

you're probably stuck in Read mode when you want to be in Touch mode, or the other way around. Read the chapter in the manual on it, it's a pretty simple system.

"The AMP Act (Allocation for Music Producers Act) for the first time adds producers and engineers, who play an indispensable role in the creation of sound recordings, to U.S. copyright law. The bill codifies into law the producer’s right to collect digital royalties and provides a consistent, permanent process for studio professionals to receive royalties for their contributions to the creation of music. ." that's pretty cool

It's not for bookkeeping, but I've been using "Qbserve" (with a Q) to track my time. it's pretty rad if you need to provide invoices billing based on time spent doing something on the computer.
