Picked up a 1968 Gibson SG from the former tour manager for Vanilla Fudge. Has Grover locking tuners that were added in the 70s and the Vibrola was removed but it feels and sounds amazing. Attachments:

Thanks. Most folks are trying to keep cool and not be reactionary. Most of the crazy stuff is with young kids. And honestly even with all of their drama and flash mobs, and raiding stores etc, they aren't going around just shooting people like the 80s. And most of them are pretty soft, just kids without parents trying to be noticed. I guess it could be worse.

I live in New York. Where in all fairness in the old days unless you could handle yourself, you would get your gun taken from you pretty quickly and be out $400. Today is a new paradigm, that is nothing like old school street crime, and I suspect the solution will be outsmarting the young kids or organized squads who are taking advantage of gaps in the system.

It sucks but it's a good idea to arm yourself and know what to do, God forbid you ever need to use it. The problem is you can't really use a gun. You can be stopped at an intersection by a big crowd, pulled out of your car and beaten near to death, but you can't shoot anyone. They can destroy your store and rob you but you can't do anything. The young kids that are doing a lot of the car thefts, shootings, robberies, and larcenies know that there are little or no consequences due to the fact that broken windows policing has stopped in America. Pretty soon there won't be stores anymore or you will need an appointment and to present your id at the gated entrance. I'm an urbanite and a very laid back and sympathetic person but it is getting to a tipping point. You have to keep basic law and order. You don't want people getting shot by Zimmermans but you also don't want cops telegraphing anything goes. It's a crazy time. We definitely need better leaders in this part of the free world. That includes parents and politicians. I'm definitely ready for a break from all the useless pop music. That's not helping anyone but Spotify.

Are you sure they didn't just get the Facebook Flash Mob address wrong?

I love his music, but something about him seems extra "studied" and less authentic "post-Dorothy", when so many women from his life pulled back the curtain on the Wizard to reveal a nasty little man. I was selfishly bummed when that happened because I've never had the same bromance with him since. But the music still survives him being a dick. Just not the same for me though. Everything is "real" nowadays.

Got his reply from my Vintage King Rep:
Unfortunately, we no longer carry the Vintage King racks. I tried to see if I could find anywhere you might be able to acquire something but didn't find much right away, so I emailed our head tech about it, to which he replied:
"I would try Mercury / Marquette Audio labs. The issue with vintage Helios Type 69 modules, they came in multiple formats in terms of power and edge connector. I've seen 3 different types of edge connectors used and some are -24V, or -36v, or some or are +24v, and some are +36v. In summary, 3 different edge connectors and 4 different voltages I've seen them configured for. Your client will have to get that sorted out with whoever is building the rack and be sure they can source the edge connector or replace/adapt to it."

I have a line on a pair of vintage Helios type 69 and I can't find anyone who has experience racking these. Anyone have any referrals? I know Vintage King made a rack sometime back and understood they had the power wrong on the first round of them.

Great CV Michael. I didn't realize your role at Lexicon and foundership of Exponential Audio in addition to producing and engineering. Keep your foot on the gas!

Paypal handled it. Should be resolved in several days. The trick for me was to get through to online customer service and to share messages from Reverb Security team.

Yes I immediately launched a dispute. Unfortunately that takes a month or more, as versus cancelling the transaction immediately or Reverb not distributing the funds which it seems they don't actually have the authority to do or not do when Paypal is involved. I would think Paypal would welcome an early alert that a transaction is fraudulent while it is still pending.

I made an uncharacteristic mistake today. My Mom who had a wonderful life was buried Friday and I've been up for days with relatives. A Neve 1066 popped up in my Reverb thread from a seller who "seemed familiar". I bought it and realized immediately it was a fake account when I went to message him. Nothing I could do about it. Paypal has no live support, my bank couldn't intervene at this point because Paypal is the payment processor and Reverb is completely useless. I recently sold something on Reverb where I have transacted for years and they still don't release a payment to me until I enter tracking for the item I shipped. But this Russian hacker whose account they have already shut down is either not having his funds held or that whole "process" is a complete fabrication on the part of Reverb to make it seem like they have some controls on their platform. Reverb told me twice today they can't do anything to stop the payment from Paypal to this scammer. What's more hilarious is that they seem to have training in place for their chat outsourcing to hang up if the questions get too real...LOL

I've owned just about every preamp made. I'm pretty much a vintage Neve guy now but as someone who works with singers I would recommend the Wunder PAfour. I own that still after hearing you do a Beatles cover on it. And the other one I like more than everything mentioned for your voice would be the Avalon. Great pre for those Eagles first tenor kind of voices.

Garageband on your phone is surprisingly great for recording demoes with midi instruments. I use the voice memo app a ton too. But there's not an easy way to get the files out of the app that I know of though. When you are opening your vm file click the circle with the 3 dots top right, then you can share. This ^ I just copy and paste it in a GarageBand track. I would love it if voice memo had a 2-track option.

They are big. I have an original La2a Babcock version and it is the one piece of gear I’ll never sell. Changed everything about vocal production for me. I miss being able to post and see gear porn on here.

Yeah it’s easier than I thought in GB. You can simply copy and paste a voice memo into a new track which is just a few steps.

Yes apparently so. I’m sure it’s not as quick and easy as voice memo but maybe there’s a way to strip it down for impromptu ideas.

Thanks Antbar. I was trying to avoid leaving the iPhone. I often find it easier to write melodies away from the computer. A 2track version of voice memo on the iPhone would be great. Even if I had to sing on top of the original vocal it would be a quick way to save new top line ideas without getting into a DAW.
