In your case, i’d also suggest the apogee 2x6 se mastering 2 channel card, as its supposed to be even better sound then the mkii stock? I have a couple of the 2x6 SE mastering 2 channels and they are amazing. Happy from day 1.

I would have bought one of these awhile ago if I wasn’t so happy with the Apogee Special Editions.

No nothing turbulent. Just some references to Dylan making changes and Daniel acknowledging it's part of the process.

Rai Thistlethwayte is one of the most talented people I've ever met. I've booked him a couple of times and Will came to see him and hang out. Those two are tight and both totally down to earth guys.

Daniel has so many fantastic nuggets in this interview.
"If you've got a lead vocal it has to command the center of the picture"
Rick asks if Bono has a loud voice and Daniel says his voice has a "beautiful print on the microphone" and explains this phenomenon, referencing Emmy Lou Harris and Roy Orbison. And how important it is.
" If you're good with melody then you get to be good with harmony and on and on and on"
" The enemy of soul really can be stacking too much stuff up on a track and then you lose your way"

I'm so glad I bought David's "Bock 47" four or five years ago. I had a Grosser Voxorama, a Neumann U47, and a Telefunken reissue and I don't remember knowing what the impetus was but I bought his 47 and I love it to this day. He was super gracious too when I asked him about about putting a Neumann capsule in it. He said the mic doesn't need anything, it's designed to be the sum of its parts. And he was right. Super underrated 47.

This interview with Rick Beato and Daniel Lanois from a couple of months ago is really interesting. I didn't honestly know much about Daniel but I was super impressed with him as an individual. And I found his experiences incredibly relatable. You guys might enjoy this.

I've owned a mic with Tim's capsule in it and there's no question he makes a good capsule. There's also no question Paul has made good records (love Morcheeba) and has his own taste in gear.
The original post was simply that he was surprised a Flea production mic shipped with such a cheap tube. Nothing wrong with that. But maybe some of the subsequent comments are getting harsh transients:)

Reverb must be breaking some sort of commerce laws by so actively preventing Members from leaving negative feedback of any sort. I bought a replacement Neve 1073 faceplate. It came and it was a mess. The 1073 was printed crooked, the EQ icons were the wrong size and line thickness, and the entire thing was not centered on the faceplate properly. It was only $100, I asked for a refund and the guy said no. I sent a polite message to him. And Reverb is preventing me from leaving any negative feedback.
A message popped up when I went to leave feedback saying "please try to resolve this issue before leaving negative feedback". Which I had already done. I contacted chat support and they gave me the run around, ultimately saying someone would email me to discuss... WTF? These tech companies are so shady. Everything is on their terms. The only feedback score it would "allow" was 4 out of 5 stars. I'm closing my account.

It's moronic. As I keep saying in the thread, the thoughtful, knowledgable users (which, let's be honest, are an IMPOSSIBLY SMALL MINORITY on that site) are the ones who provide the ACTUAL value. The platform itself is worthless without their presence. And the notion of 'ad-free' is a canard. The most effective ads are threads that praise a specific piece of gear. THAT is what sells the gear, not to mention, drives much of the conversation around those parts. You can take away the ads the manufacturers are paying for, but there's no such thing as ad-free GS (or any 'gear' website, for that matter). The whole thing reeks of this classic tech bullshit where the platform gets elevated above the folks actually creating the content (and thus, the value), by the tech folks who make the platform. We know how things CAN go over there... it can be a next of vipers on any given thread at any given time. I've experienced a great deal of wrath from a few blow-hards (who aren't even in our field) amateurs who search the net for anything to use against you to win some brownie points with their fellow pizza faced, mama's basement dwelling, 35-40 year old unemployed gamers. There exists a management attitude of "we are the kings, bow down and pay homage lowly peasants" there as well, which whilst endearing to many can be off-putting to some of us. Tony BelMunch doesn't live with his mother anymore.

Reissue 1176 don't have the sonic quality of the Chandlers. If you can get a UREI 1176 then you're ahead of the Chandler. The Distressor takes less learning curve to "do things" with it but it has a less analog vibe to me. However in much of todays music that's a mute point. The crisper sonic footprint of the Distressor is often fine or even exactly what someone is looking for. The Chandler is not as easy to use as an 1176. You'll need your recall sheets. It's also not as fast if that matters to you. I agree with Tbone's comments above. But if you are the type to put in the time and save your settings it's a great value.

Picked up a 1968 Gibson SG from the former tour manager for Vanilla Fudge. Has Grover locking tuners that were added in the 70s and the Vibrola was removed but it feels and sounds amazing. Attachments:

Thanks. Most folks are trying to keep cool and not be reactionary. Most of the crazy stuff is with young kids. And honestly even with all of their drama and flash mobs, and raiding stores etc, they aren't going around just shooting people like the 80s. And most of them are pretty soft, just kids without parents trying to be noticed. I guess it could be worse.

I live in New York. Where in all fairness in the old days unless you could handle yourself, you would get your gun taken from you pretty quickly and be out $400. Today is a new paradigm, that is nothing like old school street crime, and I suspect the solution will be outsmarting the young kids or organized squads who are taking advantage of gaps in the system.

It sucks but it's a good idea to arm yourself and know what to do, God forbid you ever need to use it. The problem is you can't really use a gun. You can be stopped at an intersection by a big crowd, pulled out of your car and beaten near to death, but you can't shoot anyone. They can destroy your store and rob you but you can't do anything. The young kids that are doing a lot of the car thefts, shootings, robberies, and larcenies know that there are little or no consequences due to the fact that broken windows policing has stopped in America. Pretty soon there won't be stores anymore or you will need an appointment and to present your id at the gated entrance. I'm an urbanite and a very laid back and sympathetic person but it is getting to a tipping point. You have to keep basic law and order. You don't want people getting shot by Zimmermans but you also don't want cops telegraphing anything goes. It's a crazy time. We definitely need better leaders in this part of the free world. That includes parents and politicians. I'm definitely ready for a break from all the useless pop music. That's not helping anyone but Spotify.
