The "receiver" amp is a -6dB amp at the input. Not a huge influence tonally but it does make a difference. The "VVR" amp is where the gain reduction takes place and a little more influential but neither is as influential as the output amp which happens to be a gar1731 in this case. This is the first Rev of the FC526. We made the IC to DOA adapter so folks could save a few bucks over 3 discrete opamps. We recently did a small run of this style comp for a buddy who loves them with the 3 amps. His are loaded with CA-0252s across all spots.

One of the most common bits of feedback I get from SumBus users is how much quicker and easier a mix will come together vs ITB or some other summing mixers.

Finally got a Heaven Hill 7 year. Meh. It’s not bad but not like I remembered. I’ve had several Blue Note Uncut cask proofs that were above decent. So I thought I’d try the Blue Note Las Notas. That was a mistake. There have been very few bourbons that I thought were un-drinkable. This is one of them. Seriously - there is a - I don’t know quite how to say this - “trash” taste. Like they used dirty water or something. It’s as bad as I’ve ever had. I’ve promised to “save” some for jsteiger . You live to break your promises...I hope. LOL

I could be wrong but my pal gar381 might have played a part in the design of these.

The Rare Breed was OK but not likely something I'd buy again. I just tried Makers cask strength and it reminds me of the Rare Breed. Meh. YMMV

I have a pair of 150s that the future studio was designed around. I also have a pair of 25s. Love them both.

AFAIK Neumann does not glue their diaphragms anymore so I would love to know how Klaus "relaxes the tension". Microwave oven?

"She's only 15." Things you used to hear a lot in song, that you wouldn't hear in 2021. Makes me think KISS Christine Sixteen.

It's been a huge pain. Lead times for transformers are in the six month range right now, and it's every supplier we use - Cinemag, Carnhill, Jensen. Don't even get me started on Bourns and Grayhill. Even things I never even worried about before like Panasonic caps or standard value metal film resistors (!!) are sometimes out of stock. It's nuts. Only solution we could come up with is: you can't pay me for it if I can't ship it within 2 business days. Grayhill is doing great. Not sure what you are talking about Matt. I just today got some switches that were due May 1st, 2021. Every time I go to order something its a challenge. The C&K mini toggles almost tripled in cost since my last order...and I was lucky to find them.

The SumBus can handle +28dBu at 1% THD+N. Classic big boy console specs.
FYI, we have parts kits sorted. We are having hella trouble with transformers. In a creative move, we are getting a bunch of inputs in square mu cans since the round cans are in short supply. I need to get another version of the input PCB since the square can will not work on the round can version. We should have them in about 2 weeks or so.

Has anyone ever shared any clips of the SumBus? I'm really interested in this route but haven't heard anything, at least not for quite awhile. I feel like I heard a comparison some years back but can't seem to find it. Its not a comparison but the following tracks are SumBus mixes.

I have been using VP28's on every mix in line mode until a couple of months ago when they dropped signal level significantly. I'm not sure if it's an opamp issue or what but I haven't had a chance to troubleshoot them. I'm bummed because they are magic. On both units at the same time? Highly unlikely. Could it be something else in the system?

Hey folks, yes I started a Facebook group to help with stock updates. There have been so many crazy delays in the last year that I kinda gave up estimating until I have the parts in my hands. Another giant reason why I don't like to sell what I don't have on the shelf. The facebook group is here www.facebook.com/groups/capi.store.stock.updates

There are a few but the one that stings the most...back in 1994 I bought a 1066 loaded BCM10 that came out of Moody Bible Institute in Chicago from Pyramid Audio for $11k. I sold it a few weeks later to Bad Boy Bill, WCKG radio DJ in Chicago for $18k. What a stupid move. We all know what they are fetching these days. Maybe Dave can come in and comment on Dolly Haha yeah I won that one!

Ah gotcha. I guess you needed to buy some more machines anyways! You’ve got to need a vintage plotter cutter This can never be said enough.

I thought you got a new plotter last year? You’re thinking of the plotter printer. Still waiting on the plotter cutter. Ah gotcha. I guess you needed to buy some more machines anyways!
