And now that I've gone down the rabbit hole of "should I get this, ditch my pre8x, sell that and pony the difference?" - it's mac only (i'm pc only) and apparently avb is pretty well dead in the water as a standard, where Dante has continued to hold... Maybe Pro tools should have considered including the ...industry standard <ducks> networking protocol? I'd probably buy it for that perpetual license and dsp! audioxpress.com/article/avid-pro-tools-carbon-audio-interface-is-a-dead-end

Have y'all noticed the recent promo for Avid's Carbon interface? Buy a Carbon and get Free Pro Tools Ultimate with a perpetual license. They are also offering an Auto-Tune Hybrid software, but I haven't even looked into what that is. Still, software that normally costs you just under $3K is tempting, especially if can do your work with just eight or fewer inputs. (Why they haven't made this expandable I'll never understand.) That's a (somewhat) affordable way to get into a PT DSP system if you have wanted to pull the trigger before. Now some folks will work for years on the perpetual license without paying for the upgrade fee, which makes this pretty cool. I'm wondering if Avid will charge an upgrade fee once they make PT M1 compatible (not just Rosetta supported). Looks like you can do 16 channels of adat preamps for 24 mic/line total, maybe that last one is spdif or a talk mic? If you're talking HD I/O expandable, then yeah. either way, you're better than 8 channels if need be

Summer of Soul and now this. Hulu seems to be putting an emphasis on music that I find lacking in Netflix. I may need to break down and subscribe. verizon's new unlimited plan was 20 bucks cheaper than my previous unlimited plan, and now includes hulu and disney+ for free. If you're on verizon it's worth a look! They still have ads on hulu, but you have access the content, and for free I'm ok with that! This is on my list for this week for sure!

Isn't this when you sell everything off and buy everything all over again?
The only thing that really ages for me are my AD/DA converters, the technology just keeps getting better and better

Looks like an artist mix to me. I just want this softube console one to work with pro tools, 3rd party interfaces with PT really disappoint me. HUI only goes so far

Atomic Music is great. The upside is the swing around of this gear boom might be great. The problem is it’s not professional musicians buying all this used and new gear so it might not end up back on the market when the free government money runs out, people have to get back to work or face eviction, and have to face the music that their covid home recordings are far from a professional studio You mean like Paul McCartney's new album? You can hear the breathing on the drums (not pleasant), and it loops along like Sublime's Robbin Tha Hood hahahahaha I still liked the album though!

Atomic Music is incredible. They let me crank up a JCM800 and a Plexi in the back room. I had never heard those amps before. I was blown away and I'll never forget that. I was surprised to learn that I'm more of a JCM800 person than a Plexi person, based on my preconceived notions being wrong. I'm an 800 guy too. I should bite the bullet and buy one. I got my 1983 jcm 800 50 watt from them 21 years ago now She's still my favorite baby.

The Boston store is dope. I still have a 1985 marshall 2x12 square silver jubilee cab i got from them for 150 bucks - best sounding cab I own! We have a store around here though near DC called Atomic Music, which is literally the best used gear store on the planet, at least for the guitar player.

I have a friend who works at a Music Go Round (used gear store if you don't have one), and he said they can't keep anything in stock, it's all selling, microphones and pedals especially They have a website? They are franchised with different sites, but my local one: musicgoroundcockeysville.com/

I think the taxes on reverb and such are definitely part of it. Facebook market place is a little sketchy in my opinion. There are no real protections if products fail or don’t work. I also think people are struggling without much performance work, so they don’t have the money to upgrade and are simply using what they have at the moment. I used to get a lot of used gear on Guitar Center’s used page, but they have been practically empty since the pandemic started. So this is a usb c device, but you still need that latency transfer knob from the old usb interfaces? Is that necessary only when plugged in with the usb a cord? Usb c is supposed to be near zero latency. Converters or not, if this isn't near zero in latency you could make this 50 bucks and I couldn't buy it. I like the bla stuff though.

Ok, so I'm building this new product for guitar players, and have never created a pcb or a cad drawing before. Since I've gone back to school recently for my MBA, I have access to Fusion 360..
this thing does the shell, the pcb, and makes everything fit together, and it's so simple with the tutorials, I'm truly impressed!
If you're trying to get past your first hurdles, I'd definitely recommend checking out the hobbyist version or any other, as I think I can actually build this prototype myself for the first time in years of putting it off.

I will say they've updated their updater manager thing and it's a lot better than it used to be. If you're not in the current version they have a side menu that will get you to what version you need. It used to mess up my system when I'd update, but it's fixed. I also do windows, and my waves plugs work from any year post AAX so far.

We are our own worst enemy with our gear - nobody cares as much as we do. When covid hit, and my drum tracks from my latest album had enough edits that it started to become a trial, my drummer just redid them on his midi kit and we dropped them into ezdrummer. The expansion kits really are a step above the past, and plugins overall are too. I still prefer any tracking with the best gear you can afford, but Scheps isn't wrong when he says ITB is good enough to print with most genres. I also do very loud rock, so nuance gets squashed in my world. I'm glad you're able to work fast, keeping the inspiration at the front!

I'm glad it's just the toes, I'm glad you're here to tell about it. I'm sorry it had to happen. One of the best football kickers in the NFL of all time had no toes on his kicking foot - career change? Get well soon.

Never had Pappy...I’ve heard some say it’s fantastic and some say it’s overrated. Been drinking a bottle of Woodford Double Oaked that’s really good. Love Angels Envy, Jefferson and Weller of course, but there’s nothing wrong with a $25 bottle of Bulliet or Rittenhouse. Bulleit Rye is my staple. Oaky, cheap, good. I have had some bottles twice/thrice as much, and they tell me it's amazing, and I taste it, and it tastes like Bulleit Rye. It's my staple too.

I don't see a free SDX when you buy SD3. Looks to me like you get a free MIDI pak. So, a bunch of useless pieces of shit. Cool. Their MIDI is generally SO bad.....there's not much bonus--aren't those like $15 anyway? I looked it up, because I'm over the moon with Kramer's SDX. That would absolutely be "the one" that adds the most to the Core, which I do NOT agree with so many here--I think are fabulously recorded MODERN SOUNDING flat nice drums. This gets a slightly more vintage recording vibe and all vintage kit pieces in AIR. I couldn't uninstall Hansa from the fast expensive drive fast enough. The other two got shipped off to slower disks, but I don't think Hansa is even installed anymore. Just on my backup drive. Kramer will likely push Bob Rock to it, too. That tea towel kit in Schmidtt's is my funnest jam kit. that 70gb or whatever will stay just for that and the brush kit.... Yeah I noticed that on reread. It's just the cross grade, which means I'm spending 500 with an sdx, and nobody who listens to music cares that much, tbh. Ezd2 does just fine until I'm making 5-6 figures a song. Which will be never

That brings me into superior drummer... I assume that it's worth it vs using EZDrummer 2 exclusively for years? You get a free SDX right now if you buy, which is a great deal if you get that $179 Hansa room.. The midi editing alone is worth it.... Cheers Wiz I just bring midi into PT, so if it is better than that, that's awesome!

I really might have to buy that UK Pop EZX...going through and listening, that's my favorite... I went to check out the UK Pop EZX demo expecting some phil collins thunder, but came out of it with modern pop wetness. Still good, but such a let down for me haha. I was gonna write the next Easy Lover for a minute there.

Can somebody make a pack in sound city already? How many records have that sound in the vox factory - perfect drums room. Neve console would have been great, but anything to attempt to capture that. I need to stop chasing the Pinkerton drum sound already Think there’s an Addictive Drums library recorded there. Does it work in ez drummer

As a rock and modern punk rock / pop punk guy, the John Feldmann pack is great. There is a Feldmann 'The Knife' preset that I put on and it was like "hey, this is it". For a more open one, they've got a roomy goodness preset that gets a more open flow 90's rock feel. I also really like the sizzle on the prototype hi-hat. I still think there's a lack of a great sidestick. Maybe one day...
