I use Mid Side stuff on the buss often. But there are other cool places to use it.
Haven't use the ProQ3 yet, but the MS filtering would be super awesome. One thing that can be helpful for some stuff is doing below XYZ Hz is mono only. Take a grungy bass in a hard rock back. 200hz and below is mono only, then say 350 and up goes to the sides. For doing the wall of sound guitar thing this would supplement it a lot.
I would say, use a light touch no matter what though.

One demo I saw suggested similar just start with say 500 hz for mid and then put a shelf high up and just experiment shifting things around a little to develop your ear.

Yeah can be cool for stuff like that. Just be careful with it
I use MidSide by Goodhertz a lot. Its a great midside plugin.

Thoughts on Waves S1? I know a lot of people use it on mono sources, but I'm iffy on the idea. For panning stereo instruments and widening busses though... pretty damn useful!

I use the Bax EQ on M/S mode on my Master all the time in varying amounts. Just gives everything a bit more breathing room.

I also do it fairly often. Whatever the track calls for.

Personally I see drums as one instrument, not a half dozen separate pieces. I like them spaced just how they sound when you look at a drummer, bass drum center, hat and floor toms just a pinch to the side, if at all.

I use the Abbey Road TG mastering, and also sometimes the Brainworx Digital V3 for M/S EQ stuff on the master bus on some of my more in depth mixes.

Cool, thanks notneeson. I use overheads in Superior drummer II to dial in the right distance.

I often use FF to do a low cut shelf on the sides and a high shelf boost at 12k or so on the sides.
This adds a bit of sparkle and centres the punch.
All subtle of course

On mixes with a lot of bass I will sometimes Mono-ize the bass up into the 100ish Hz area plus or minus. There's a few plugins that do this but my meter from Klanghelm has this feature built in so I just use that.

Cool, thanks notneeson. I use overheads in Superior drummer II to dial in the right distance. Gotcha, more of a virtual solution. I work with Inferior Drummer all the time. He's not the best, but he's real and he's got a lot of heart!

Remixed Created an aux with the MS BAX eq and only sent the guitars, reverbs and non lead vox to it. Lead vox, drums and bass go direct to stereo out, no MS, also narrowed the drum pan. Seems like a happy medium, not so Spacey, but the main mono parts are centred and the mix also has the ms quality. See what you think ? soundcloud.com/kcatthedog/ac...he-heavens-ms2

I agree with you the second mix is the better of the two and a happier medium ambassador.
