The Gormley leg shift. Girls go crazy when I do that move on the dance floor. It’s my only move.

I... Don't understand. The vocals aren't even in tune. They change pitch throughout the song. Un-listenable.

On the first day, the Lord gave us Jan Terri. And on the second day, Antares gave us Auto-Tune.

You're welcome.

The break after the second chorus is just wow.... You win. Agreed. That one is going to be tough to beat. She sounds like someone taught a frog to sing.

Probably one of the biggest testaments to "its who you know" rather than how good you are
Dude explains how he met her and how he produced it. Almost comically simple and he's raking in the $$$

Cardi B performed that song at the Grammys. I'm with you, John. Normally I can separate what fall in my tastes and what people recognize as aesthetic choices and talent. I find nothing to appreciate with that "song" or performance. It's almost like her rap style is slightly singing, but she's really off key— always. There's nothing fun or danceable with the beats. That bass leaves you anticipating, no praying, for some sort of change up.
I think her sound is kind of a trend now, because when Post Malone performed on the Grammys, his singing sections were great but when he rapped, it was more similar to this.
I recently went through all of these Netflix documentaries on rap and got really into relistening to certain albums from different eras, but the trend of it being fun seems to be dropping the longer out we move from 1976.

The break after the second chorus is just wow.... You win. This thing had to be a total vanity project. I'm sure she's probably married to some rich dude and just got bored and convinced her husband to pay for her to record an album. The thing is that, besides her own lack of ability, it's like the person who recorded/mixed this is either comically incompetent with Autotune or is in on the joke and made it sound that bad on purpose. That shit sounds wretched. That, or this is all on purpose and is intended to be the most punk song ever....

That Three Second Rule --- she's not a good performer, but it's a clearly recognizable song attempt and it's somewhat competently played. I mean, I've heard a lot worse coming from people who've played for years. Some people never understand songwriting. They jam, but there's no real song to it.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say there's something about Cardi B's music that appeals to me.
I don't even listen to a lot of new music but there were some moments there that I thoroughly enjoyed.
Post Malone got mentioned, I can't stand that crap. I can't explain it, who can say.

She's doing better than most (all) of us.

This is the best thread ever. I cannot believe how many views some of the songs get 3 second rule over 100K But the comments are funny shit. example
"I like this song. But I also like setting my hair on fire and putting it out with a brick"
Thanks for the laughs.

Hate to say it....but this song actually appeared on 'Mix with the Masters', and audio engineers around the world are watching and taking notes on how it was mixed. In particular, there are a few tricks on the bass that are worthwhile.
Hiphop mixing does bring me $MONEY$ on occasion, so I guess I have to stay up-to-date. The MWTM videos did expose a little bit of the production of Cardi B's vocal talent/performance, and how she has strong vision and commits to all those little vocal FX and call-response type stuff. That doesn't seem to happen in the mixing, happens in the booth, which is cool.
But I agree this stuff all kinda sounds the same to me. I honestly cant wait to finish my current hiphop project and get into something new very soon. I'm probably more of a Leon B. fan than Cardi B. fan when it comes to current popular music.
