Doesn't matter if anything new is up to the mark or even better; examples like this serve to fuel a drive for the holy grail these beautiful pieces seem to represent. A photo is worth a thousand words.... Cheers, Ross
P.S Where on earth did microphones in such good nick come from and at what price?

From this side of the pond, it reminds me of a jazz guy I know (now a grocery store manager) who talks of touring Europe and seeing nothing but Neumann and AKG condensers for live stage use. There must be quite a few more chances of finding nice ones like this there versus here.
I'm tracking with a pretty clean Telefunken badged U47 the next few days, first one I've ever had a chance to use. They just aren't around here at all.
I have a big love/hate thing with these types of threads. I love seeing all the killer vintage Neumanns, but hate that I don’t own one. I’ll take a pristine case-queen 251 please. With a 47 and perhaps a 54 on the side, while we’re at it.
My vocation is more in composition really than in anything else- building up harmonies using the guitar, orchestrating the guitar like an army, a guitar army. | Jimmy Page
