In the video it sounded okay on the vocal, nothing special about it but it wasn't bad. I didn't love what it was doing with the guitars, especially with the acoustic which sounded kinda brittle to my ears.

A lot of mics do on some people. I don't think slight sibilance by itself takes a mic out of contention. I suspect I already own mics that would sound better on that singer (richer in the top end certainly) and that's what would take the Stealth out of contention. I guess what I'm saying is that in listening to the video, nothing stood out as being particularly nice sounding to me. I thought the vocal was the best showing it had and that wasn't terrible but it wasn't remarkable in any way.

I thought it was a nice sounding dynamic, when I tried it at NAMM. Their Origin was much better, on my voice though (better than Spirit too). Chris

“Technically speaking, the Aston Stealth is a moving-coil microphone, but what makes it so unique is that it is also a dynamic mic.”
Waah?

Didn't listen to the video, I don't trust 'em. The verbiage struck me a a pile of hype aimed at amateurs. I don't want a dynamic with onboard electronics with 4 baked-in EQ settings and I don't see why anybody with any experience would.
And I don't like the way it looks, it appears bloated, like an M201 with a severe obesity problem.

I’m not trying to say it’s a good mic one way or the other (never used any Aston mic) BUT me thinks thou dost protest too much. The 441, SM7, 421, e906, etc etc etc have different EQ/voicings/settings on board - so does this. As for the onboard electronics - it’s basically got an on-board JFET booster built in (think a cloud lifter type circuit as featured in EVERY active ribbon mic) and what they are advertising in their poorly worded way is if you apply phantom the booster kicks in but it’s not required so if you don’t have/use phantom it’s just a good old dynamic mic unlike many active mics that just stop working without phantom! = neat trick!) Not rocket science, maybe not even groundbreaking but they do seem to kind of be trying to do something at least slightly different than everyone else - it doesn’t seem like any sort of abomination to me.

The mic sounded okay on the vocals, especially V2. I didn't hear anything wrong with the G guitar sound, it wasn't too hyped in any direction to my ears, but it was not very exciting either. Andertons' video sounded more impressive than Vintage King's, but that may have been my preference of the singer. The Brits both have good voices!
This isn't the worst option for a first studio mic or if you just need extra mics and don't have a big budget. I'd still think an RE20 might be a better choice in the $400 range for someone starting out.

Hey kids, look... it's the new SM7!! Nah, The SM7B is as much a part of the hipster uniform as Beard, beanie and plaid work shirts. Broadcasters would be going what is Upton. The Upton rep will never own a Porsche turbo,916, BMW M5, Sunbeam and a trick all at once, the Shure rep we will go him Randy, well that’s another story.

But he might get an Upton Girl! Chris Good one, Dad! say . . . are you sporting a beanie, long beard and a plaid shirt? Possibly eating gluten-free fish tacos at this very moment? Just kidding! I'm sure you don't have a face-mullett. And I love 'dad jokes' . . . probably because I have 5 kids. My 3 year old still finds me funny.

No beard, but often a soul patch, and I'm freezing right now in a plain white t-shirt! Leftover thai curried pork I cooked last night.
No kids here, but if I'm not telling Dad jokes, then they are of the 14-year-older variety. Thankfully my girl vibes with my humor well, or at least she doesn't complain about it. My niece never found me as funny as my nephews did.

I've bought 2 origins and 2 Starlights (Aston mics) and have had problems with 3 out of the 4 of them. I've since sold/returned them

How can hipsters not have a new look? Well they have added the Man bun, but otherwise I think they all wish to be Nick Offerman, I do not wish to look like him , I wish I had his bank balance and woodworking skills.

I think the internet is the enemy of real sub cultures. Everything is getting homogenized cuz dudes in Tulsa know what dudes in Williamsburg are wearing and listening to.
