I never finance. I just save and save and save until I have enough, then buy it.

I never finance. I just plead and plead (with my wife) until she's had enough, then buy it.

I did finance the beginning of my one-room studio. Still a couple of years to go! But it allowed me to open the doors quickly. I made sure thatI could cover with the day job.
Have done the first paid sessions in my room now and looking to get a new studio computer with those funds. Definitely a sweet moment to have the studio - and my audio engineering work - pay for something! Long may it continue :-)

Re: HDX - I don't know. I hear all kinds of people complaining about delay compensation. All I do is turn my system on and it's perfect. That alone is a good enough reason for me. The extra i/o and DSP are another. Re: Used HDX, 192's, HD interfaces..... I know a guy.... Bill, still using 192's (TDM) here. Maybe you've commented on this already but compared to the next generation "I/O's"" how would you describe it? To use both 10HD & Ultimate Native I'd have to get the I/O or Matrix, correct?
I’m not sure what ultimate native means, but I’m using an Omni and a 192 on my Accel 10HD rig, no problems. You just need a digilink mini adapter.

I’m not sure what ultimate native means, but I’m using an Omni and a 192 on my Accel 10HD rig, no problems. You just need a digilink mini adapter. There are 3 tiers of Protools now. Protools Ultimate Native Ultimate HDX Ultimate Native means you have some hardware DSP for the IO but for plugins and other things you're still dependent on the computers CPU vs a full DSP system of HDX. There was a smaller PCI card for Native for a while but no longer made, now its just a thunderbolt box with one digilink output. Also has a limit of 64ch IO. Many mixers use it vs HDX due to cost and is still as powerful for the most part with a good modern computer. HDX is the best choice by far for tracking due to the extremely low latency. I believe Native HD was introduced with PT11. or 10..can't remember.

Very little pressure to move forward in my world (current system sounds and works great, clients don't care, the only downside is I don't buy plugins much... maybe that's an upside) but I'd def go HDX next. Oh, and I don't have offline render, but again, I'm not plugin heavy. PS, that particular Native rig I've used had a mixture of Burl, Avid 192s, and even an old Digi 192 digital. I suspect the Digi 192s will still work with Native but it's a good question for the DUC.

Im sure the Digi 192 will work with Native Ultimate. Basically the same interface. I'll probably go for HDX anyways though as I will no doubt end up with more than 64ch of IO im sure of it. Already have 22 I think in just hardware and plan on having a sort of console setup im building.

I think they rebranded Ultimate Native simply because HD Native was confused to often with HD, HDX, and Vanilla Protools.
