I played around with it for about 15 mins....... then I bought it.
So how does it compare with some other tube style preamps?
I did two quick takes. The first was with my Altec 639A Ribbon mic. The second was with my FleA 49. The signal from each microphone was split to my Tab Funkenwerk V78M, Demeter VTMP, UAD 610B, and finally the UAD V76. The files are raw with no compression, EQ, etc.
I'm curious what everyone thinks. I'll provide a key a little later.
Ok. Here is the key. A: UAD V76 B: Tab Funkenwerk V78M C: UAD 610B D. Demeter VTMP-2B

I leaned toward B, so that makes sense.

Oh, I got it right!
The UAD 610B was more obvious to me.... but sounds like they did a pretty good job with the V76. Flew under my radar as 'digital'.

Finally had a chance to load the new software. UA did a real nice job on this one... diggin it. Instant buy for me. The 3k setting not only attenuates the highs, but smooths out all kinds stuff in the digititus range. In addition to having a great unison preamp emulation, this is gonna come in handy for quickly taming harsh tracks during mixing.

Got to demo. I’m holding out for now..... Don’t need any more preamps, so would be just a mixing tool for me.
Unfortunately the recorded drums I put through it didn’t instantaneously transform into sounding like recorded in the early 60’s. Doh!

Yeah...after the Helios and 1073/1290 I’m not really sure I need anything else.
