I posted this on facebook at the UAD page and it lit up. UAD reps, mgmt., please for goodness sakes figure out a way for the plug-ins we own to be highlighted and placed in any order we prefer. I hate trying to remember the name and model number of every plug-in. Even if the order stayed the same, if they were highlighted in red when I go to instantiate a plug-in, it would be a huge help. For instance when I want an LA2A, I look at "L", then have to remember, oh, it's under Teletronix, then scroll, scroll, scroll, scroll. I think I want a tape sim, then have to remember it's ATR-102, etc, etc. oh wait, maybe it's Oxide. Sometimes I haven't used a plug for a long time and just can't remember the name, like I need a chorus, what the heck was it called again.. I have at least 250 plug-ins, please give us all a break, we've been asking for this simple fix for 5 years now. No marketing rationale can explain why this simple fix hasn't been implemented. www.facebook.com/groups/Univ...=group_commentThe thing is, I don't want a workaround, I don't want a third party solution, I simply want UAD to let me put my plug-ins in the order I choose when I go to instantiate one. They can keep their list of every plug-in if they want, just let me put my favorites on top or at least highlight them. The is just a no brainer. Look at the responses to my Facebook post to see what UAD users really think.

If you built a template in console, you could save it with only the plugs you want instantiated? br] One for tracking, one for mixing, with your preferred plugs preloaded .
You could name them and simply open them when required ?

I created a sticky on my desktop screen of the ones I own, but that's an imperfect solution because to keep it visible costs screen space.
Which group is it? The link doesn't work for me.

Are you talking about plugs you own vs ones you don’t?
You can just move the ones you don’t own out of the plugins folder.

but you have to do that each time you authorize: right ?

You don't have to do it each time you authorize (or didn't when I was in UAD land) but you do have to do it each time you download a software update with new plugins.

I just wish you could hide the ones you don't have...but then, they WANT you to have to look at those.

That's the thing, I don't mind them being there, just let me put my favorites on top, or at least highlight them so I can find them more easily when scrolling. If UAD is listening, I have never once considered buying a plug-in because it was there in the big menu of plug-ins I'm forced to scroll through to find the one I want. All that list accomplishes is wasting my time and frustrating me.

Why bother, just make a template and load in all the plugs you own. Turn on the ones you want to use leave others off ?

I hated it too so when UA came out with a new software version, I'd remove the plugs I didn't own from the plugins folder. A little bit of a hassle I guess, but it takes like 1 minute and then you only have your actual plugs show up in the DAW. Way worth it.

As shared by the others, you can indeed remove the ones you don’t own out of your system plugin folder. A bit of a pain, but you only have to do it once every update. It’s frustrating, and it’s probably for marketing - wanting you to see them all so you demo and $$$$.
If you use Logic, you can utilize the Plugin Manager to create and organize your plugin list. This is what I do now instead of manually deleting the plugins on the system level.

My point is that it would be simple for UAD to let us change the order of our plug-ins, or at least highlight those we own, but instead we have to do some convoluted workaround. It just makes no sense. I'd like to hear from Drew why this is so.
Bram, I'll take a look at the plug-in list and see what is involved to organize my UAD plug-ins. My experience with these kinds of things is something always goes wrong though.. so I hesitate.
It'll have to wait though, I have no interface this week anyway. I sold my Apollo 8 and I'm now trying to sell my UAD Quad satellite so I can buy the new Apollo X.

Seeing a huge list of plug-ins I have to scroll through to find the one I’m looking for has never once resulted in my being interested in a different plug-in. I get that from UAD emails and from suggestions right here.

You have “dynamics” or whatever category and then it’s just an alphabetical list of whatever plugins are in that folder. Getting rid of the UAD plugs you don’t own is literally just going to the plugins folder and deleting or moving the ones you don’t want to show up. There’s nothing else to it. I agree the huge list is annoying! I just never dealt with it cause I removed them.

I guess I don’t update my software enough for it to cause me angst. Can’t even remember the last time I updated UAD. Updating software causes me more angst than looking at a list of plugins I don’t own.

In terms of why this isn't done: remember this is the same very tech literate company that cannot over what 7 years now figure a way to offer savable channel strip names in the console gui it wrote the code for: don't hold your breath , for an editable plug in list.
I know Drew uses templates and as a sort of library of saved templates he created that open exactly the plug ins he wants.

Another reason I am enjoying Harrison mixbus is that it automatically categorizes my plugins which makes it easier to find what I am looking for. It can be divided up into equalizers, Dynamics, Etc

Thanks Drew, that's a start. Well over 100 people agreed on my facebook page and we've been asking for this since uhh.. forever, so if you can, please twist and arm or two.
