I can upgrade to the new SD5 package for $79 Rock Foundry is $180. I have a couple of slate expansion packs so the lower price and new engine in SD5 is certainly the lower cost option. Am using the demo and find SD5 is working fine.
Was wondering if anybody using Rock Foundry has listened to new SSD5 or tried it ?
I'd like a really good new library to supplement my Logic drummer producer kits.
Thoughts ?

I still use the Bob Rock all the time. If I had to have either - for my tastes - it would be the BR.

God knows we like to have a little fun at Steven's expense, due to his hyperbole, but I am really impressed with the update to SSD5. He refers to the new SSD5 engine having improved articulation: guess that is like improved transient response and accuracy. I find all the kits do sound improved and more precise. If any of you have SSD4, you might want to check this ssd5 update out as there were special upgrade discounts that were supposed to end yesterday, but mine was still live today, so I bought. Slate also has ssd5 updates to Blackbird and cla expansion packs, which I have and got and they too sound new and improved: clearer and more precise. For $80, I got the new SSD5 engine and essentially 3 either new or refreshed libraries: very very pleased. Man between this and FF EQ3, recent plug upgrades are rocking !

Turns out I no longer have an sd3 license, so buying that, plus Rock vs $80 bucks, Bob lost out this time

Just remember that if you’re trying to upgrade from SD2 to SD3, you only have ‘til 12/31 to do it. Toontrack is cutting off the upgrade after that point.

Is this true for the EZDrummer to SD3 crossgrade as well? SD3 crossgrade plus the Rock Foundry SDX is $498, and not on sale. Is there a possiblity that there might be a Boxing Day sale that could help? I just got the $79 Slate SSD5 upgrade, but I'd like to give SD3 a try.

I just remember getting several emails from Toontrack over the past year reminding me that I only have until 12/31/18 to upgrade from SD2.
