Hey gang, I'm looking for an installer for OSX 10.12. Does anyone have access to download this from their app store account? I have 10.10 or 10.11, but that's it.

I'm pretty sure you can still download it through the direct App Store link, even if you've never downloaded it previously. I had to do this recently to get High Sierra after Mojave had already been released. Go down to Step 4 in the below link: How to upgrade to macOS Sierra

That would be awesome, I'll check to see if I can do it. I always thought that once they took it off, you couldn't get it any longer if you didn't download it.

You have to go to Step 4 of the document I linked to. But I'm pretty sure it'll work. I got stuck at regular Sierra and couldn't figure out how to upgrade to High Sierra after they'd already released Mojave. Then I found a similar document from Apple describing how to go to the direct link at the App Store. It's kinda weird, b/c if you search for it in the App Store, it won't even come up as an option. But if you have the direct link, it'll take you to the App Store page where you can download it.

Apple has always been pretty good at keeping legacy OS installs available, for many you may have to go through multiple upgrade steps to get to a specific version. So glad I no longer have to keep an installer around for every version, can’t imagine how big a drawer of sticks I would have to have!

I've been pretty good with 'Mountain Lion' for a few years now . . . to the point where everything is outdated and nothing is supposed to work . . . and yet everything is working, so why upgrade now? Anyone have any difficulties using PT10 with a higher operating system than 'Mountain Lion'?

I’m on El Capistan and don’t even know what version it is? Everything is working, so I try not to sneeze while in the room.

Noooo Never again! I told my doctor it wasn’t the burns that shut down my liver it was this ever changing document 😁 I remember getting emailed versions of this before it was posted as well as keeping hard copies as orphaned versions of Avid support docs disappeared or were hidden on page 10 of search ! You know a shrink would probably tell you AVID and all it’s Changing docs are why I love my RADAR V /24 on BE OS!

On my Orphaned system, well I could upgrade to windows but it just would feel wrong! Honestly the true pro audio community should push for AVID , Stienberg ect to move away from Windows, Apple OS to Linux. We don’t need all the consumer heavy crap ! I know other than say 1% of users the DAW is consumer purchase, but if I’m going to buy HDX I want an Enterprise platform!

I just moved several computers off of Yosemite, with one I had the option of installing El Capitan because it was the last available for that computer, for the others I could only see High Sierra as a download option.

You have to have one of those specific computers fo the option to show up in the app store. The old download links can be found, but they will load a different option as it senses the computer being used to browse.

And Mojave is an entirely different deal, due to needing a Metal-equipped graphics card.

Yeah, you ned to have “bought” a version with your Apple ID for it to show up. You cant get anything but the latest for the computer unless you did that.
I genrally tell it to update, let it download then cancel the install. That way its in my AppleID history....and allos me to save the disc image they download off for later use. I have 10.12, which is also what ive been running for years—my macbook came with 10.7....i briefly had 10.8....then straight to 10.12....but, the wife’s had 10.11, so i thing i have that image for hers. I hope i did 10.13....as I think thats what id need to Hackintosh my tower....
Anyhoo..if you need it, PM me....

Actually, that’s exactly what we’ve pointed out on this thread: you actually *can* get installers for other versions of the OS, regardless of whether you previously “bought” them with your Apple ID or not. You won’t be able to find them in the App Store by searching. You have to use a direct link to the App Store page of the OS version you’re looking for. You can find these on Apple’s website.
