Yeah. Come to think of it, I’ve really liked everything I’ve had with Sowters.

Yeah. Come to think of it, I’ve really liked everything I’ve had with Sowters. Exactly. Time for me to get some Sowter gear. Bank says no. Some day.

Looks like the chandler limiter to me so I'd guess is that circuit that circulates on the DIY community? So, more similar to the tg compressor than to the 2254 I'd say. Somebody won't be very happy, lol.

Diode compressor is coming soon! EDIT... I misspoke and I blame my brain. We often have these misunderstandings, where I have one thing in mind and my central processing unit has something else in mind, and then takes over my fingers.

Diode compressor is coming soon! Brings 'ice cold' audio to mind . . . what could be stiffer or colder than a Diode? an LED? (yes I know a diode as well, but using light so a new kind of opto-LED compression?) I'll stick with T4s and Choobs, thanks. Have almost no experience actually with diode bridge compressors. You don't like them?

Also they are definitely doing a Sta Level clone.

Anyone know what transformers Retro is using? It seems Chris from AS likes to use Cinemag. I mean, the tubes alone in the Retro has got to be 300-500 bucks.

The few diode bridge comps I've used (2254, 33609) were very warm and euphonic sounding. You mention opto-LED's, is that what you're referring to?

I hear you BlackDawg, but I still think that at least attack and release times should be dead on. I remember the shootout between an actual LA2A and the IGS one. It was perfect. Don't just consider attack and release times but also recovery time . . . the time it takes the compressor's 'engine' (like a T4 cell) to return to it's resting state. That can really affect the way a comp/limiter operates, sounds and ;rides' the waves, Technically speaking that is a more correct way to characterize and define "attack and release time" people get all bunched up sometimes trying to explain it to each other. But you are right.
