I wonder if Softube will do a Harrison 32 channel strip, or make it so Console 1 can control Mixbus. That would be pretty darn nice.
I'm also curious if Console 1 can be used in conjunction, simultaneously, with a moving-fader controller such as, perhaps, Faderport8/16, etc..

You can use C1 and a fader port together, but they largely do different but complement things and balance each other off nicely, !
C1 runs the plug ins, FP, the session, automation and transport etc.: also you can map plug ins to FP too, so you can get in pretty deep with all the functionality if you want.

I run mine with a Behringer X-Touch. Great combination.

So it arrived....
All installed and working.
I am in the midst of tracking for my new album, but decide to take the morning to play with it.
I did a mix of bed tracks, drums, bass and acoustic guitar using the Console 1 with its British A console.
And then through the same tracks out though my console and outboard comps.
Now, I am using Logic Pro X , and I think the integration with Console 1 is better with Cubase and Studio One.
Its a bit too fiddly for me, managing solo ing, opening and closing windows.
The sound is just like other plugins....
Its not going to work for me.
I did get a steal on it, and if someone here wants it hit me up... I would part with it for what I got it for....$400 USD plus postage from Australia (say 60USDish) and it includes the standard plug in the SSL4000E and the BRITISH CLASS A which is $249 USD on its own.. bargain town.. includes iLok transfer fees as well..
EDIT... also has custom made wood cheeks stand thingy, and I guess add 4% for PayPal.
Cheers

Cheers Wiz I just set mine up and did some testing as well. I got the same package with the 4k and Neve console too. I thought the 4k console sounded and felt great. The text on the controller is not very easy to read, but it felt intuitive to use and I had the hang of controlling it pretty quickly. It seems to be really well laid out. The build of the unit feels good. The Neve console didn't really get me fired up, but I have MUCH more experience using SSL and API gear. I really want to demo the API and see if it gives me that API bite. Like Wiz said, the operation with the plugin windows seems a little clunky. Most mixes that I'm working on have pretty high track counts and it seems like it would be a pain reordering things when I move stuff around. I think I'll have to be very diligent about getting all of my tracks set in place where they belong before I start tweaking around with Console 1. Anyway, for me, after about an hour of use, it seems to be a keeper. Pairing the Console 1 and my Artist Mix seems like a neat little digital mix rig.

Personally, I’d say work with it for a week or two then decide, there is a learning curve and the getting used to the C1 environment, but then I quite liked it .
If you standardize your session project order hint, hint, then your muscle memory kicks in session to session.

I agree that maybe you should give it some time. It's almost a total workflow solution so it will have a bit of a learning curve. I find it to sound very good and allow me to take a lot of the "think" out of mixing a track.
It may not be for you in the end, but it could be a little early to tell. Is there any rush?
And, yes, S1 and Reaper run it quite well. Perhaps Q-Base as well.

An essential pointer is to hit the All button and set Drive to 5 on all tracks, which is really the default analog emulation.

I get these things set before I ever touch the EQ or compressor. They get my sound envelope and harmonic character where I want it for a each source so that I'm doing less work on the back end. I noticed the biggest usefulness with the API console but that's also the sound i like the most.

C1 is actually very deep and there are many interrelationships in the signal flow; like a real studio. I'd really recommend that people just have fun experimenting with it to see what works for them.

Actually just read that this morning on Facebook mixbus users group page. Good find. There are a lot of talented people making templates for various controllers to use with mixbus. One guy in Scandinavia even offered 2 help me with my JL Cooper controller

I have been playing with the Console 1 for the last couple of days I activated the demos for the two consoles I didn't get when I bought it, the API and SSL 9000K ( it came with SSL 4000E and Neve) I really like the 9000K. Never seen a real one let alone used one, I mixed on a SSL 4000E once, never used a API or Neve Console in the flesh. So, I really like the Console 1 with the 9000K. Not really enamoured with the 4000E API or Neve Versions. I mixed a song off the upcoming album using just the softube console 1 (SSL 9000K) and fab filter De Esser, D16 Repeater Delay, Relab 480L and Bricasti. Then I ran it quickly through Izotope Assistant thing with the Fab Filter Limiter To see how it would work for me as a finished/Mastered mix(ish) Now, there is no fader rides on this mix, it needs some, and the gate is set a bit heavy handed on the LHS acoustic guitar. But the mix was really fast to do, I love turning knobs not mousing, and the 9000K sonics suit the clean style I go for. Let me know what you think... Hey! I owned a C1 for about 2 years and loved it. After some testing i ended up using it mainly on drums and busses. So i had the track count tops at 20 since PT don't have track follow.
It's a great concept and really liked the saturation and 4k model. The british A compressor is golden too. I basically sold it because im downsizing my profesional side of my studio and i'm not mixing that much anymore.
For me i kind of new within the first hour of demoing it that it was for me. Would have probably kept it if i could have used the plugins without the interface on occasion.

I have fallen in love with this thing, and I am committing to it for my next album release.
I spent quite some time with it over the last couple of weeks, and its really fit in to the way I work.
I have all the different console emulations, and have spent some time building presets in each of the console types.
I am glad I stuck it out, my first impression wasnt great... but its a really good system.
Cheers
