Saw a FB post today about the 73 pre shipping but he referenced low price ending cus he has decided to go retail.
Anybody interested in lower Stam prices, I guess, better place orders ?

I think he just doesn’t want to bother dealing directly with customers anymore ? So, a retail layer, creates a barrier/buffer and he can focus on designing and building the gear ?

I hope this happens soon since I’m not allowed to preorder anymore since I made the SA-47 vs Flea video 😂

If he goes retail, he's going to have to cut out all the constant tinkering with the design. I don't think retail businesses like Sweetwater would put up with that sort of thing.
I wonder what kind of markup this will result in?

It’s give and take...I can see losing sales but not having to worry about all the other stuff would be worth it.

They used to do direct to customer and now everything they do is retail. Though, one big difference is that they never had the production/delivery issues that Stam has had.

Products are up on gear4music.com, shipping in February. That’s optimistic!

Retailers won't be happy if Stam doesn't meet promised delivery dates and from what we've seen in recent months, I don't see how he can pull this off. Also, this makes me worried that in an effort to please the retailers, the rest of us will be waiting even longer for goods that were promised months ago and still haven't been delivered.

I didn't check every single price, but I did look at the units whose price I'm familiar with, and the prices on Gear4music still seem to be the same as the direct prices before.

@jtc I have to give Joshua some credit, as he has committed to us to get things built and shipped over the next few months.
I am just being patient, but I have had a couple of delayed receipt of purchase with Stam and someone else and I just want stuff to show up ?
I am really interested in his 67, but it’s difficult to put down another deposit with the uncertainty of when it would show up ?

To me, that makes it more unlikely that the retailer will want to bear the brunt of the complaints for missed delivery dates. This has the potential to end very badly.

Communication is still terrible. I can’t get a reply about the 67 I preordered 10 months ago, nor the half price SA2A he offered as a compensation. I’m averaging a reply out of every 4 emails.

When I do a review I try to be honest but I guess they didn't appreciate it for whatever reason. Great gear though and honestly if it were all in stock I'd probably order one of just about everything they offer. I pre-ordered a ton on Black Friday last year. At the time the story was all of those items would be delivered by March 2018 at the latest and it was going to be the end of preorders as everything would start to be in stock. Here's to hoping it's true this time.

Per Stam on Facebook::
Prices will go up 30%-40% , thus about 1290-1190 USD for each once we sell through stores!

I guess that will definitely increase the price of Stam products on the used market then. It's still confusing though. For example, the MPA price on Gear4music is the same price as the stock price on Stam's site. I don't see a 30% or 40% markup there.

Let’s see the Mackie 8 Buss didn’t ship for 2 years after first promissed ship date, Behringer is always a wait, Stam will just join the long line of others who will get a weekly email from purchasing agents wanting an update. The thing is will he be able to finance the builds without the deposits? Because dealers are can demand terms! That’s how you make money, you take the cash with order turn that cash twice before the item ships and once more before you have to pay the vendor. It probably is a good move from a customer service standpoint, but only if Josh has a pile of cash to pay for the parts and freight!

I thought your review was quite well done, FWIW. It seemed like an honest accounting of your experience, but without trashing anyone.

Man, you can tell you never sold video gear my friend 😁 Panasonic, Sony and JVC all had this knack for shipping all the back orders a month after they started advertising the new models! The big boys also have this thing against anybody who sold direct, only thing worse in their eyes is somebody who sells through dealers and directly. Only thing worse than that is when they sell through dealers, directly and are a major customer of yours and you have to hear about it 😜!
