The sad part of this thread is that it would probably be a musician/engineer who is familiar with gear to make it worth stealing. A regular thief would only get pennies on the dollar for stolen gear.

Hah I didn't intend to create an ironical/sardonical thread, but there it is. I sometimes forget that RGO is a very public place. Thanks for the warning- I am usually verrry circumspect about the world at large and was overcome by enthusiasm. For the record, I've just discovered that all of my gear is 100% knockoff/worthless, and contains lead, mercury, DDT, and Agent Orange. And a significant portion of it is radioactive, which in high concentrations can shrink certain body parts . Thoughts and prayers for your wife, bud. No wife here. I'm not against it, just never happened for me- at least not yet.

Pulled mine too, Sucks that we live in a dangerous world. I'll list this, since somebody may want something: Not in Use Line 6 Flextone Amp Fender Roc Pro 1000 Head (2) Rode NT1A mics Roland Mesh eDrum Second or first WW that was a dangerous world. Or living in a third world country is dangerous too. But I feel save here in western Europe. In the US I may would be woried too because of all the Angst driven gun owners....thats true that is dangerous too.Not all gun owners are angst driven though. Don't believe all you read. The media paints it to be out of control and it's not. Not really. The problem isn't the guns, it's society and the general moral decay of the status quo. America has always had guns and never had any real problems up until a couple decades ago. In my community, it's legal to conceal carry, and many good folks do. We've even got cowboys who strap on their 6 shooters like the 1880's. LOL But....It's a huge deterrant to crime, and the criminals (the few that are here) know it. Also, it's a big dog community. Another deterrent. I feel completely safe where I live.

But I feel save here in western Europe. In the US I may would be woried too because of all the Angst driven gun owners....thats true that is dangerous too. It's actually the complete opposite! The great majority of gun owners are very responsible, law abiding citizens. Please don't fall for the propaganda. Ironically, the more citizens that have the guns, the safer we feel over the criminals.

To be sure, aremos is speaking for himself and not " we." aremos, I caution you to be careful about discussing politically sensitive topics on this site. It will get you banned.

What does 1) commenting on a previous statement, within the thread, & 2) talking about guns, & feeling safe, based on other comments here on this thread, have to do with politics ... & being banned? (I didn't include you in the we.)

I don't really believe in civilian gun ownership other than for hunting and livestock protection. One can argue that humans have mostly been treated as livestock by those on top for all of known time, you can spin that all sorts of ways. I know how to handle a firearm properly, and see lots of people fail the 'proper handling' test on a regular basis. I feel less safe when I see a civilian with a sidearm in a restaurant because of this, and I question the person's level of paranoia that they need to be armed to go eat a meal in public. Watching way too much of the news and thinking the crime coverage is a high % possibility; maybe you should just stay home. What ARE they planning on doing with that thing over a plate of eggs?!?! I don't know them. I know a pretty good number of people who have shot themselves, either on purpose or by accident, I don't know anyone who's used a firearm to defend anything. I do know people who've been robbed specifically to take their gun collections. Lots of ways to view it. If I felt need of a defensive weapon, it'd be the legally shortest barrel pump 12 gauge I could own, that sound alone will make most people leave quickly, instantly recognizable.
I don't see it as political. I see it as a balance of need, common sense, and safety.
John might deleted this....it's his site.....

Perhaps I misunderstood the meaning of your post. I'm curious to know who you are talking about when you say "we."

Fortunately, in this great country, we have the freedom to own a firearm. Aside from being a full time musician, I happen to collect microphones. I have many friends that collect guns. They talk about a 357, a 38, a 44, a 9mm like we, here, talk about a (57, 58) 12, 47, 67, 87, etc. Nothing wrong with either one. And I definitely don't want any government telling any civilian that they can't own something unless it's used for something they deem worthy of (like for only hunting or livestock).

And to be extra clear, I didn't say people shouldn't own guns. I question the validity of many people's beliefs around gun ownership, the bill of goods they've been sold as a philosophy. To flesh out the vagueness in your statement, you'd surely put a lot of things on lists for regulation? You have to be licensed and pass safety training for many pesticides and herbicides, so you don't poison yourself or your neighbor. Does ever increasing population indefinitely support libertarianism?
