Yea, nobody's buying consoles, but I am. Just bought a Harrison Mr-3 Console. 36 input (72 mix down), transistor Class A mic pres, HP and LP filters, fully parametric E.Q. sweepable frequency and bandwidth, Transformer balanced outputs (all input modules and masters) Plasma meters, Full 19" built in patch bays, all multi track and outboard cabling, spare parts and full documentation. When I get it to the studio, I'm Gonna set it up in another room with a RADAR V and check it out. I know for sure I'm going to recap it, but leave the rest alone. I want the original sound of the console, something I lost when I completely Jim Williams modified the Harrison MR-4 in the main analog room.

Heck yes! Sounds like a really fun project. Which converters are you running in your RADAR? I've got Nyquists but they're like 17 years old!

Let's see some pictures. 17 year old IZ Nyquist converters still sound awesome, no need to worry.

The Radar unit is buried in the storage room and I just remember On the front RADAR V NYQUiST, same nyquist on the converters. Didn't take any. When I get the console to the studio I'll take some pictures.

RADAR and Harrison sounds fun. Now call Harrison and spend almost as much as you did on the board on the manual! Most of those old TV boards have some routing options that at first will seam insane, but at some point you find brilliant! Congratulations, I’m a bit jealous the Raven I had for a bit was just a mess.

"and spend almost as much as you did on the board on the manual!"
And even then, it doesn't mean it's correct...
I purchased a Harrison MR-4 many, many, years ago... Had two independent techs from Audiotechniques come in and wire it into our patchbay and all the studio gear. Took about three or 4 days to wires everything up. Only to find out, that the manual from Harrison was INCORRECT... The techs wired everything as laid out in the manual, but the wiring diagram was incorrect. Everything had to be redone, at our expense!!!
When I called Harrison on it, they said, "OH yeah, the first edition of that manual has a few errors in it" Sorry...
That was only the first in a long list of horror stories while I owned that console!
^*#$(% Harrison!

Hey Paul They now pull the build docs for your serial number and copy those so in theory it should be right, in theory that is. In the case of the Raven I had the previous owner had built the thing out of modules and a frame he had bought up over time, then ripped out the automation so the manual meant nothing.

I bought the first Mr-4 in 1981. Always found Harrison very help full. When the console was first commissioned my tech did have questions and conversations with Harrison, just to make sure. Maybe your tech should have picked up the phone. The Mr-3 was all wired up and working when I saw it. Not butchered, No cut wiring, no funky P.S.B. The seller is a tech at Capital Records. The console came with full documentation. Quick guide, Manual, schematics, all cabling docs, and a whole lot of reading. There's a 40 input Raven in the storage room. No built in patch bay, open pots, vu meters, no gold contacts. They can be a mess. That's why it's still there. Along with another well maintained MR-4 I bought from the UCLA recording dept. With 4 Harrison consoles, Mixbus 4, Mixbus 32c, I guess you can call me MR. Harrison.

I don't have enough time right now to even get into the AUTOMATION... As It used to turn itself on and off randomly, in the middle of sessions Trust me, I have nothing but fond memories of my time with Harrison. Haha But, obviously your time spent with said consoles, is much different. That's a beautiful thing. As for me, I cannot talk bad enough about them. End of rant.

There's no way I could ever work without a console again. My completely ITB time was not a happy memory..

I’ve been working with a 24 channel AWS on a current project and I’d happily use this over one of the big boys any day.
If I could swing a 948 AWS in my personal room I’d do it in a heartbeat!

That's also what I'm aiming for!! Heck, I'd even take an upgraded 900 (with the Delta upgrade). $85,500 is the best price I can find on an AWS24 . . . and a 48 is $125,000 Anyone selling one used? The family can make do with the 2010 Flex for a few more years

Last time I checked price on a 948, which was not too long ago, I believe it was around $98k and the 924 was in the $75k range. Not that I could buy one unless I win the lottery. I seem to recall Peter Gabriel sold his interest in the company and it seems prices have gone up since. I may be mistaken.

It’s now owned by the same Company that owned Allen & Heath it wasn’t just PG who sold his shares.

I don’t know how but my buddy got his for a stupid low price when the market was flooded with them about a year and a half ago. Console, patchbay, cabling, argosy desk, - all for about 40k. This was for a 900+ upgraded with Delta. Funky Junk in the UK always seems to have a few used ones at a decent price, Pro Audio Design usually has a few that they don’t list, just have to give them a call. As always, buyer beware and bring a good tech that knows the desk... lots of these things sat in a room with 2 faders up and never got used to their potential. It’s like they were more of a piece of cool furniture than anything else.

I have loved the MR4 and the Raven since the first day as punk kid I walked into AVC systems in Minneapolis and saw the Raven in the Lobby and the MR4 in the demo room, man if I had cash I would try to talk you out of that Raven, cut it down and have a bunch of spares😎 I don’t know why but those things have a very special place in my heart, yeah it’s nuts but Harrison Ravens, Alive4’s and Soundcraft 200B’s will always have a special place in my heart. Of course this from the guy who’s trying to convince his wife a new pair of STAX headphones or the used Soundlab Dynastats on eBay would make a great 50th birthday gift!

I'm in the northeast, and whilst shipping from the UK might not too too difficult, I'd rather get one of the west side of the Atlantic.

I'd love a cut down 4K. 24-32 channels and 6 stereo busses with center section would be my jam. There were a few modified ones in the 15K range a few years ago but I haven't really looked in a while.
