Recently picked one up, probably the best sounding amp I've ever heard and I've heard nearly every rock / metal amp out there. Via channel two it can do anything from 5150 style smooth distortion all the way over to nasty Diezel sounding grit but with it's own ENGL edge..
Clean channel is smooth as butter, tried it through a HK 4X12 and a custom 1X12 Zilla baffled to a 2/12 and the harmonics are stunning, it's easy as hell to get it sustaining which for me is the sign of a cracking amp.
If there's one criticism it's stupidly loud (I had a Laney 100 Watt that wasn't as loud as this) and sounds pretty flat until you at least get it cranked to 4 on the gain / master.. Not the amp to buy if pissing off your neighbors isn't on the checklist.

I've always found the ENGLs to be muddy. Low-end doesn't seem that defined. better with this unit? (nothing negative intended, just observations)
Yep, had the same issues with a Savage and Blackmore.. Easiest way to get around it is a boost pedal and drop the mids to about 3.5 / 4, then it tightens up nicely..! Oh and these react pretty well to an SM57 / 441 combo.
