Just want to say that the production run of Flickinger Twin Flicks preamps are now coming online. They are designed with and built by Avenson Audio, in Austin, Texas. We have gone through 2 prototype stages and are now ready to start shipping our first full production run of these units. We have settled on a 2 opamp gain stage unit, with the first 52 dB opamp identical to the 536-2 channel cards from the 1972 Flickinger 36-Ch Ray Stevens Nashville console, and have and additional 20 dB on the second 535-7 opamp for a total of 72dB. We also have a promotional price on the first 10x units. Thanks for the interest, Stephen

Surprised to find this thread dead on this last post from 2019. Received a TwinFlicks today. Heavy as a tank despite its small footprint, almost 10 pounds.
Plugged it up via the line inputs after the SumBus and before the rest of the 2-bus chain I have at the moment. Immediately noticed the incredible lows and exposed some of the mid things I was fighting on the sample song which is live drums at the core. Had to start remixing there. I hear what I'm doing is "top down" mixing.
Ended up today with the input around 2.75 o'clock and the output at 8-ish. I don't have the ear skills to give the esoteric hyperbole on it, but the sonics are arrestingly awesome. Really cool unit.
For the money, the TwinFlicks is an absolute steal. Tracking guitar through it tomorrow. Will report back.
Edit: clarified where the unit is in the mix chain

I picked one up earlier this year. I still haven’t got to play with it much at all. This year again was mostly mixing and any tracking was mostly just vocals. I’m looking forward to that hopefully changing starting the beginning of the year… We’ll see!

Surprised to find this thread dead on this last post from 2019. There is another Flickinger thread where the TwinFlicks came up and several people, including me, adding thoughts. I bought mine about a year ago.
I'm interested to know more about you applications in mix.

Very cool plinker, thanks. I lost track of that one, I guess. I'll search that up. I've been reading about here for some time (probably also the other thread) and it seemed like it might be a good fight on the 2bus plus having another flavor of pres. With the SumBus and 5500 in place I thought it would be worth a try after the SumBus. I've got a few other units on the 2bus and I've been messing with bypassing them, etc. to see what feels best. Loving the TwinFlicks so far though. Really giving things a good vibe and plenty of recovery gain.
