Also, read through this and the drums can’t possibly sound good. They were using Km 184s. Gasp! Cheers, Geoff Ha, I was just thinking about adding KM 184s in the underrated gear thread.

It was meant in good humor. Everone has opinions about that album and they are entitled to them. I’ve heard them all. I must admit that some of the mix bus compression wasn’t to my taste, but it has grown on me. It’s aggressive but still feels musical. I'm betting that was Shawn's Unfairchild? I went the POM Fairchild 670 route but am always curious about that well liked UFC.

> "Grandma cried when I pierced my nose" Geez. Pop music. It's a good recording and mix. By the third minute the loudness was making it sound choked to me, especially after the band comes in. Millenials probably don't know any better. Damned Millenials! Singing about things that actually happened in their lives and using compressors all over everything. What do they know? Please tell me you didn't just flex-post a pic of your grammy at a dude who's sold north of 20 million records....

I heard a podcast (or was it a TapeOp ad?) where Shawn mentioned he used the UFC all over those Golden Hour mixes so I’m just guessing it might be in play as mixbus tool? but there are a bunch of great compressors that get used on the mixbus so it’s complete speculation.

Grammys...the one thing my extended family understand about my job and want to talk about during the holidays. Hey Sean, are you from Mason Ohio? If so, I was in a recording workshop with you run by Dave Davis and John Curley.

Yeah! Morrow, OH (close enough). That was such an awesome experience, and really steered me in this direction. And something like that here in Nashville would be thousands of dollars...not a couple hundred. I can’t remember what year that was, but I was either a senior in high school or a freshman at UC studying to be a teacher.
Cincinnati had such a great scene of home recording artist...Spectacular Fantastic, For Algernon, The Minni-Thins...

Congrats to the Grammy winners here. It’s nice to get recognition for your competence and accomplishments. My band never was a Grammy kinda band, although I did belong to NARAS in the day. I like a punchy master as much as the next listener, but I like it around 12dB peak to average. Louder than 10dB starts sounding claustrophobic to me. I’d rather reach for the volume to turn it up rather than reach for it to turn it down, which happens with some modern music and my ears. Here’s a few of my RIAA awards. I put my pants on one leg at a time in the vinyl era, but after I put on my pants, I made gold records. www.dropbox.com/s/5ud59mkc9m63n22/BuckGold%20-%201%20%281%29.jpg?dl=0

My girlfriend bought a Yamaha drum kit from you the week you were headed to Nashville. We still have it and although she owns about five kits now, she still uses that one sometimes over nicer DW and GMS kits. LOL This year I was mixing some songs that Jeremy from the Mini-thins recorded. He's up in Michigan now and super skinny. Congrats on your success in Nashville. I'll have to get down there sometime and see your studio.
