Thanks for the videos John, happy to see it safely in your hands
The attack and release times are 100% identical to the UREI 1176
The VU meter we use is a bit heavier than the UREI thus the needle might be a bit slower but the audio is the same

I wonder if it's more metering? I hear a distinct difference (like it should sound) in the snare between fast attack and slowest. The meter doesn't really show a huge difference.

Going from slowest to fastest attack on that snare, I can hear massive changes in the sound of the attack - like I would expect - but the meter doesn't reflect as drastic of a change. The sound is awesome, though.

Yeah, seems its the meter that's sluggish. I've got original Fs and a G, and the meters are snappy that show the release accurately.

No - seems to be a little slower than the UAD Rev. A. Maybe I could send someone this file with a different Rev. A clone to see. I have a Serpent Splice MKII, would be glad to run a file through that.

You have such a great voice, I have to ask: is this a loopback or multiple takes? It obvious how well the 1176 is helping. Being able to check the different circuits like that...wow... D sounds exceptionally nice on my laptop, really full and up front, sounds automated compared to the No Comp take.

I really have avoided 1176’s for years because I thought they accentuated the bad frequencies in my voice. Well, this one doesn’t. I’ve been super happy with the UAD ones - even over some hardware, but I can hear a smoothness and a punch I can’t get with plugs.

Although I guess you can crank the release to the fastest I was just thinking of going through real quick to best match the settings you had going in the 2 snare videos. Different converters probably & not very scientific but could be interesting to hear any differences since the Splice does Bluestripe & blackface modes.

All three versions seem to do their own distinct “thing” and all three seem to do so in a very classy sounding way.
Having now heard it - the wait seems totally worth it.

Absolutely freaking flawless. leaving the comp characteristics aside, tonal characteristics A. 200hz push, like an A/B does D. 1k - 2k taming like a D does G. tiny 200 push and high mid scooping, like a G does. Genius. (Hope I don't miss the orange and red van again today... )

I know every song / mix is different, which rev (ADG) would you say works best most often for tracking and mixing bass?
