Whilst the iron is hot on the new release, what's YOUR primary use for using the 67?

Vocals mainly.. Well only if you pass the background check, wear a mask when you're in proximity to it and wear gloves in case you touch it.

VOX, OH, Rooms. I find it a touch too harmonically confused/obfuscated for a really good acoustic guitar sound....but it can work. I usually gravitate towards a FET for acoustic guitar work.

I suppose I should give something besides my smart-ass answer above... lol
I like the 67's on :
- choirs - cello - sometimes on Vln section overheads - guitar cabinets! (especially for hard driving Gtr sounds) - guitar cab room mics - not my fav for OH, but they can work well with EQ - occasionally for lead vocals - esp. if the vocalist is super sibilant and I still want a big up front condenser sound.

They are unmatched for OH when set to figure-8!

They are unmatched for OH when set to figure-8! Interesting Bob, why Fig8 vs. cardioid? More separation or the fact that it’s hearing out of both sides (more room)?

I don't really know. I was recording Jeff Beck and Mickey Most asked me to duck the cymbals. The only way I could think of doing that quickly was to switch the KM-86 to figure-8 and move the mike edge-on to the cymbals. Later I tried the same thing with a 67 and liked it even more.

Super cool! Not to be dull, but when you “mike edge-on to the cymbals” do you mean point the fig8 nulls at the cymbals to lessen their volume in the mic pickup? Or do you mean, since they’re more “focused” in fig8, aiming them partly at the cymbals and the rest at the other drums?

I believe the U-67 is best used as a microphone. Using it as a paperweight would be a waste of money (an SM57 would do the job as well) and using it as a sex toy would be contraindicated, as the capsule would be likely to become contaminated beyond repair.

hmm,,,is that just idle conjecture or emphirically validated?

I’ve only tried two of those.
Gonna have to branch out next time I need a paper weight.

Yeah buy a prop house 87 for a paperweight, nobody will know the difference 😎

I like it on banjo room mic. Blended in just a tiny bit so you can barely hear it.
Other than that, it's a great way to piss off your friends.
