We had a confab last week about gain control in PT but you can do it in logic too:

Yeah, I discovered (or found out about this) about a year or so ago, on a thread here if I'm not mistaken. My mic technique isn't too bad, but I still end up using it here and there on my vocal tracks. If I have to push things too much, like more than 4 or 5 db, it doesn't work for me because things like room reflections come into play, and at that point, I just find it's more musical to use compression and automation. Just like everything else, it's about using your ear, right?

Having the little fader right on each clip is really a sweet workflow. So much less automation/trim automation tail chasing now.

Chuck - you just changed my world. Didn't know about region automation. Thanks!

It is like clip gain in that you have the capacity to increase the gain is specific sections or tracks in your song as opposed to volume automation.
I do a lot of working on parts, section by section. Sometimes I realize afterwards that my relative levels are too different so I can use this function in logic like clip gain as I used to do the same in protools.

I use it more often than volume automation. Quick and easy way to get levels right where they need to be

I use it more often than volume automation. Quick and easy way to get levels right where they need to be That, and it's pre-insert. So if you do it first, you've got a more consistent level for compressor plugs...

Or someone uses the old sample editor? Yes, I've used that for years...

So what if the region is split up for the change??? It's one keystroke away from joining the larger region again once you get in the gain range you like.

I use the join command: what’s the one keystroke ?
