I know there have been other threads in the past on the Silver Bullet, but I just had to post how versatile this thing really is when it comes to the pre amp section. I recorded some vocals the other day using a Pearlman TM-250, into the Silver Bullet on the N setting into the Chandler RS124 and I think it is one of the best sounding vocal tones I've ever achieved. Just curious if anyone else has used the pre amp section of the Silver Bullet and what your thoughts were on the various settings you can use with it.

Amazing design.
I love acoustic instruments with straight up N, but I love vocals with a blend of around 30% A and 70 % N. What an awesome piece and palette.

You probably don't want to hear from me on this since the thing bears my name, but....... I've got a wide variety of pre's - CAPI's, AML's, Purples, LTL's, API's, Neve's, D&R's. Somewhere around 40 or so. (Not counting the console...) The Silver Bullet will hang with any of them. As good as any, better than a lot. BUT - the ability to cascade mojo blocks is what makes the thing so unique. The ability to have an API mid-forward aggressiveness blended into a huge Neve "size" sound incrementally....or vice versa...makes it (IMNSHO) one of the best preamps you can buy. mjhecu nailed it - the blend between the two mojo blocks is the real uniqueness. And the EQ just plain ol WORKS. I still want a pair of Tube pre's though....

I still want a pair of Tube pre's though.... This feels more like foreshadowing than a product request... Doc, is there something you're not telling us?

Brad and I have talked about tubes here or there, but I really don't think a hardcore tube MIC pre is in the LTL stable. But Brad surprises me all the time. I might want a coil or locomotive or dand or DWFearn tube pre at some stage. Not sure which, and I'm not even sure, but there's ALWAY'S more gear out there, right? Right now, I've been LOVING a tube mic into the ZOD DI into my LA2a with just a tiny kiss of compression, and enough gain to get up to A/D levels. Don't even need a mic pre. It's a FANTASTIC tube sound.
