I think it all depends on what’s between the modules. Are there gain blocks between the 500 series modules? What drives the fader (looks like 10 dB in hand)? And how does all of that sound when driven?
Because to me that’s what you’re paying for.

Wow, tough crowd!!! Here's a short product video from NAMM: /video/1 Except for the price (and that's debatable), I don't see anything wrong with this at all. To me the development of this probably followed that of almost every summing product out there, it was designed around the needs of an individual, a bunch of people told them it was cool, but nobody said they would never buy it! Highend manufacturers always face pressure to bring out a down market product in hopes of growing the brand and generating cash flow, but it has to be something a bunch of people want. What we have here is a niche product, but a very, very very small niche I see this as a literally a handful of people's dream product!
