Sure, but no one wants to pay for one.

It's probably just a variant of something already in use. Nobody is going to start up a long-dead line of tubes for some audiophools. They probably took a look and saw that it was essentially a consumer version of some guitar amp power triode (or hobbled pentode run as triode) and were like "OMG $$$$$".

Actually supposedly that guy bought the original equipment and tooling. Of course, they also advertise that a pair of 80w mono amplifiers with eight 300-B, 3 6SN7GTB and a 6SL7 goes for $51,000. On a PCB. It boggles my mind that the market for that is more than a handful of people in the whole world.

Right... but if we ignore the fancy pants jargon like "point to point wired with MIL-W-16878 silver plated PTFE wire" - meaning, normal silver plated wire connecting the different PCBs - we see that unobtainium tubes aside this thing should cost no more than $500 to make including metalwork. You'd think lowering the price even to $25,000 would dramatically increase total sales.

It's also $51k so it's more exotic than the guy next door who spent $50k on something else😎

I own, 2 x custom made Cary Audio Signature 300B mono block amplifiers. That were made specifically to power my Wilson Audio speakers in my living room.
They are 8 watt Single ended Triode power amps that use original WE 300B Vacuum tubes. And yes, they cost $$$.
Absolutely ridiculous...how GREAT these sound when matched to efficient speakers!
You really need to hear this stuff to believe how great reproduced music can be! Totally mind blowing, and sadly very few will ever experience this, or know what is possible.

I am totally amazed how little is known here about the WE 300B. I though everyone knew this legend. This is Tele VF14M territory. We just talked about this in another thread too; re-issue tubes/costs/etc

OK I'm sitting here with 3 series Magnepan's Conrad Johnson and Krell so yes I have bitten into the highend ( If only the Maggie's were close to the efficiency of those Wilson's) , but for every truelly great piece of highend consumer gear there is a high dollar over priced semi functional piece fro the hands of the latest incarnation of Magic Alex. Some push the envelope some think the rules of Physics dont apply many have not understood the basics of electrical safety. All that said if I had the money I would have a pair of MG30's or Soundlab electrostatics powered by the Last generation of Brown Electronics Labs 1001's in bridged mono a custom Klyne pre amp wired with Ray Kimbers latest Silver cables. Instead I keep thinking I should sell the Krell and Biamp with a pair of JW GFA-555's, they really do kick the Krells ass.

Wow, the cynicism is strong in this thread!!
I find myself optimistic about the prospect of certain tubes re-entering production!

It looks a little like this one that's in my closet. I have no idea why the photo is showing up so large..
