I love the texture and character in your voice. I don't think I've ever had a chance to record someone with that level of complexity. I agree with the others here -- I think that vocal track is lacking some of the nuance you got in, say, Tiny Moments. Hi matt@IAAthanks for that.... I get what you are saying, and its true... but the vibe of the room!! 8) Behind me up above the window, is the Akai that U2 tracked on, using that drum kit behind me, and it has masking tape with , like Bono, Edge etc on the tracks... but the big one is BB!! If you can't be inspired in that room.........also extremely intimidated 8) cheers Wiz

Very nice. I was in that room in I wanna say 87? IIRC they had a 12 track Otari digital? recorder in there at the time. I didn’t record anything, just walked around. Still have and wear the t-shirt I bought there. Glad you got to add to the great music that’s been recorded in that room. Cheers, Geoff Hey Geoff its back to as close as original as they are gonna get now I think. Its really great that you can still record in there, and its not just a museum...I bet thats what Sam would have wanted..... people to experience what I did. Cheers Wiz

Peter You lived up to the history of that room my freind, on that tune the total different vibe from your 87 just worked. I kept thinking of the Mellencamp album & The Jacob Dylan Album that I believe were both done there if memory serves me so your in good company my freind!
I here Stephen Sank can do an amazing close job of matching the OLD Japanese clones!

If you can't be inspired in that room.........also extremely intimidated 8) cheers Wiz Dude, speaking of intimidating...that performance, coupled with your songwriting and style, is intimidating. Good job my friend. It sounded awesome on my iphone speakers even. I haven't had a chance to listen to any of your other stuff but I'm seriously impressed.

Sounds beautiful!! The song is awesome as well congrats! Nothing beats unedited live takes. I've been trying to record like this whenever I can. Get everybody in the room and just make it happen. Congrats! Hi bricejchandler Thanks so much, I really appreciate the comments.... My wife (Jo) always is at me that I should just record me singing and playing on acoustic guitar and forget all the overdubbing stuff.... 8) Wheres the fun in that though? 8) cheers Wiz I gotta admit I completely agree with her but that's just my personal taste obviously. I checked your record and think it sounds fantastic too but lately I've been really gravitating towards very intimate performances and arrangements so this song is exactly the kind of stuff I listen to! A couple years back when the Chris Stapleton record came out and everybody went crazy over it, I just thought it was boring and then a couple days ago I listened to his NPR tiny desk concert, just him and his wife and I was really moved by the songs. Quite a few people I know and work with feel this way too, it's probably a reaction to how over produced most of what you hear on the radio is and it just feels refreshing sonically and emotionally to listen to raw performances, really hear the space around the artist...

Hi Tbone81what an incredibly nice thing to say, thank you Cheers Wiz I do believe we had this conversation at a Waffle House in Nashville Peter but I'll remind you Jo is right, the mark of a truelly great song is that works when you strip it bare and it still shines. Most of what we do in the studio is dress it up for the mass consumption, today's market is very different from when we were young radio & MTV are dead the consumption is very different and their is a much larger market fore an excellent song, with a simple great performance, in fact it probably emotionally connects with more people today than the dressed up version.

Hey wiz I remember that time as well! I was lucky to be there, In nashville. And meeting you, and your wife, and everyone. Sort of a game changing moment in my life as well. I'd like to meet more of you again. Full stop. If this is a sound you are after, now again, besides performance. I would say that a focus on ribbon microphones is in order. They "tend" to sound more like this in general if that's the sound you are going for. I appreciate the history and the room and all that but I don't think they are the main thing going on in this video. You could do that wherever you are with the same or similar microphones. Also what's up RGO 2018? Haha.

If yours was the only voice left I might not want for another. Ever and always have I disappeared inside of your lyric and lines...pure magic.
