FROM STEVEN SLATE: "Hi guys, here are some files in 96khz 24bit. It is recommended that you put all four files in your workstation so you can quickly switch between them. This is the raw ML-1 to VMS One Linear preamp. As you'll hear, this is an extremely flat and detailed sound that I think a lot of people will be fine with by itself. We spent a lot of time designing this microphone and preamp and they are truly something special: www.stevenslate.com/vms/Flat.wavNow, first I'll put on the 251 microphone emulation through the FG73 mic preamp. This to me was the best one for her voice. It added some clarity, some depth, and has a really flattering midrange: www.stevenslate.com/vms/251-73a.wavNext, my second favorite, the 800 microphone emulation to the FG76 tube mic pre emulation. This has a ton of air, clarity, and detail, with a nice robust tone added by the preamp: www.stevenslate.com/vms/800-76.wavAnd now, the one that simply doesn't quite work, the 47 microphone to 73 preamp. Just a bit too big in the midrange and the top end has that classic vintage sounding 47 roundness that isn't right for her... this would be better for more Adele type material: www.stevenslate.com/vms/47-73.wavAs you can hear, these emulations really model each chain's intricate details.. you can hear lots of unique attributes in the consonances, in the sustains, in the dynamics, etc.. Hope you dig! And remember, it's less than a second to swap to each chain to find the best one. Cheers, Steven"

Steven's words and recordings all.. John, it would be nice if you put quotes around this stuff before you post. It is disconcerting to read a post, and then discover that the person who posted it didn't really author it. I'm relatively sure you're not posting this at Steven's request, but for the uninitiated it sure looks that way. EDIT: Much better!

I just copied and pasted from another site...I'm sorry that I failed to fully attribute it.

Nah - I just noticed that you did it before -- sorry if I came across as snappy.. But it is is kind of suspect when the owner of the site posts PR blurbs in unattributed fashion, don't ya think? It comes across as an endorsement, which I'm pretty sure is antithetical to one of the reasons this site exists. Just my opinion, but you can see how it might raise a flag, no?

Not sure where I've done it before. And it's signed "Cheers, Steven..." I'll try and make sure I put quotes from now on. I couldn't care less whether someone buys this thing or not. I would think this site's reputation and my CONSTANT mentioning of that would stand on its own.

But it is is kind of suspect when the owner of the site posts PR blurbs in unattributed fashion, don't ya think? And I have to say it pisses me off a little when you intimate that my actions are "suspect." Where have I EVER proven to be or do anything "suspect?"

No - you haven't but that's only because I know what this site is about - I'm sorry if my choice of words hit a nerve - I'm trying to be helpful by making you aware of a user perspective that may not be on your radar. As owner and moderator of the site, you have to hold your own posts to the highest of standards, and that can be tricky That's all I'm saying. My apologies if I said it in an offensive manner. That was not my intention.

Hi.. pitch correction after the mic/preamp emulation. Not doing guitar sims at the moment. Release date Q2. Thanks! Cheers, Steven Hey Steven, Just got pretty deep into the VRM Custom Series EQ bundle this weekend ..(it's FANTASTIC.) Looking at the FG Bomber next, but this microphone emulation video has me intrigued. Any chance for an M49 emulation down the line? (If you ever need to borrow one, I have an early Soundeluxe E49 that was just tuned to about perfection by David Bock, it sounds virtually identical to a vintage unit in great repair I just borrowed, and I would absolutely loan that to you guys in the name of science!)

I just wish he would prorated discount his subscription service to accommodate slate plugs you already own. Silly example but you could own all his plugs and relab and he wants you to pay the same monthly price as someone who owns none? I like the new bomber plug alot but not $100 likes

'Tis not the season for unwarranted rebuke, or "help" as you call it.

All I did was put, "From Steven Slate" and added quotes. I didn't endorse anything - even before editing. I would've thought you had been here long enough to know that I'm not full of shit...I'm also pretty sure I've posted my skepticism in this thread - if you read from the beginning. My personal opinion is this - I have yet to try a digital product that FULLY approximates the true sound of tube hardware. The 1176 plugs from UAD come really damn close - close enough for me - for FET style, but I've not heard a tube emu I thought that really nailed it. So, I kind've doubt that one mic could replace these. I'd love to be wrong, though.

Even before the edit, it's speaking in first person about how "we worked really hard in development of this mic" and blah blah blah. Then it's signed as Steven. I find it a real stretch to see that as anything other than forgetting some quotation marks.

I like the new bomber plug alot but not $100 likes I agree with this 100% I own VCC, VTM, VBC, VMR, FGX, so my $200 subscription gets me Bomber (meh) and the Custom EQ (more meh). Honestly I'm not that blown away by VMR either way, it sounds amazing but it doesn't sound better than the Waves CLA comps to my ears.
