If your upgrade plan expires, I believe you are then required to purchase the $299 "reinstatement" plan

How much is it to opt back in to HD if you're running 10?

I love my PTHDX software!!!! Worth every dime, and it's the backbone of what I do, and made me enough money to be worth it 100X's over. I end up re-buying it every 3 years or so. I don't chase the upgrade path. I sell back my "old" license and buy a new one. Cheaper than staying on the plan. Plus, I don't chase the "constant upgrades" path which is the death of creativity IMO.

Yeah I was quite unpleasantly surprised that with a perpetual license, you don't even get . updates beyond a year, but are required to be on a plan for every single patch update, even bugfixes. Usually software is upgrade from 9 to 10 or 11, or .5 at least, like with Cubase. This is anything at all, even fixes to things you already paid for that should be working.

I'm growing tired of the $399 per year for HD. I'm close to letting it expire this year - and going the reinstatement route (1k afaik for HD) every 3/4 years assuming they have some feature I want.

Trade your license back in or sell it - then buy another. Cheaper than just buying it outright or paying the subscription.

Previously I had a need to keep my Mac updated with as close to Apple current release as I could. I was counting on the support plan to help me with that. But in reality they (Avid) have lagged behind long enough to force the issue. I ended up buying another machine so my Pro Tools box is now dedicated to just Pro Tools. I should have done that long ago anyway. I don't mind the subscription software model that much if they basically make it so cheap that I can't pass it up. But Avid did not go that route with HD anyway.

for $99, will I have to pay the full price the next time I wanted to upgrade? They have run deals in the past, but I have ended up buying back in pkg deals with a cheap interface in the past and sold the interface! But umm your associated with a dealer now, ask Jay about a NFR!
