Absolutely! The di consists on a very high impedance JFET buffer which feeds straight into the mic input transformer, so all the circuitry is used.

Seeing as My order for a Heritage Elite is promised a month out, I'm starting to think AML ez1273 kit with one of DanDerloos cases reason being the line Transformer, might experiment with some different iron!

I was trying to ignore these since i picked up the Stam EQ but now after reading this thread I am even more intrigued. I was always looking at the vintech but it seemed a little out of reach for me. This is a great time to be alive for cool gear.

Regarding the lack of a dedicated line input transformer... Correct me if I'm wrong but my understanding is that by padding the line level (by dunno 20-30dB?) into mic level and then bringing it back to unity gain, you'll have a 20-30dB increase in noisefloor. So, one of the disadvantages of using a mic transformer for line levels is the increased noise when used with line signals.

I patiently await my Sweetwater order... you went with the EQ as well didn't you? Actually went with two of them, but it took too long so I canceled one. It’s about to take so long I’m losing interest to be quite honest. I mean, I know we aren’t talking RM, but hey - I’m an impulse buyer

Man...I don't know. I'd pay to not have to build the damn thing...plus, look at the Heritage...bad ass. I've been asking why no one did a faithful(ish) replica besides BAE...The price is just so hard to beat.

I know, I know your fear of DIY, it would be the equal to my guitar playing ( yet I buy classic guitars). BAE became the equivalent of real Neve before Neve got into the reissue Buisness because of their racking of real Neve modules and then the fact that when those started to become unobtainable trying to come as close to the real deal as they could. Over the years others have tried and come and gone, but between the fact that BAE and latter the Neve reissues were the excepted reissues everybody else has had a hard time or tried to put their own stamp on it. Others like Vintech suddenly found them selves in a bad political situation, all it takes is some powerful loudmouth bad mouthing you and people won't take a chance because that loudmouth is perceived to more than you!

these products are going to be amazing! New job? haha yes but not related to that brand. I just try to follow what everyone is up to and get excited when people are able to break through the new 'glass ceiling' in pro audio, so to speak (build your own gear/keep the quality good/keep the price low)... I'm working on similar goals now myself, but not that type of product.

Good luck, there is room and somebody who chooses to lead rather than follow in that price range could be successful, or find a quality channel to do the same and sell your brand to GC😎!

Good luck, there is room and somebody who chooses to lead rather than follow in that price range could be successful, or find a quality channel to do the same and sell your brand to GC😎! Thank you, appreciate it. I don't know if what I'll be doing will ever be mainstream enough to carry in GC... you have to really get popular as well as affordable to be there... but I hope to make a dent. I'll be able to talk more about it in the future; but the genesis of what I'm trying to do really dates back, as I've said, about 15 years when the first major company I worked for transitioned to making things in Asia. I had started out 'making things' at the beginning of my career, later moving over into administration, and am 'making things' by hand again now... But over the last decade, I've seen the cost of tanker fuel go up, tension between countries and customs officials get worse, import delay times and inspection times get worse, lack of respect for IP in Asia get worse, and cost of making goods abroad in general get worse. China is at the very beginning of what the US went through at the start of the sit-down strikes and worker's rights protests in the early 20'th century, and as someone from a 3 generation union family, I have to applaud that and hope that factory worker's lives and wages improve there. Of course, this means goods manufacturing will continue to cost more. At the same time, technology and automation have allowed making things domestically to get faster and easier... I believe the gap will close and a return to taking pride in 'making stuff' again will infuse back into the industry... I think the people who get a head start on that will have an advantage, and some people already see it. As much as people want to talk about design, design is not the whole thing. Craftsmanship and QC is a real thing, and it's part of the sauce. I wish NAMM had a TEC award for it. and I'm not saying it doesn't happen at good contract manufacturers also; I'm just saying its harder to truly get there if you are picky about your product and how it comes together. I want to try to thread the needle and handcraft stuff locally or at least do most of the assembly here, and still stay within reach of people's budgets...

I recognized the sound in 2 seconds or less. I now that's weird, but it sounded right immediately, and I knew I was hearing a proper Neve style sound. Uhh.. wow.
