I don't know who among your are NARAS members but first round Grammy voting has started and I wanted to bring attention to some projects I was involved in for consideration:
Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical: Jerry Douglas Band - What If? (A long shot with 588 other entries but this is the one award that specifically recognizes us engineers and it's very humbling) Best Bluegrass Album: Michael Cleveland - Fiddler's Dream Best Folk Album: Tim O'Brien - Where the River Meets the Road, Jake Bugg - Hearts That Strain Best Americana Album: Tyler Childers - Purgatory Best American Roots Performance: Jake Bugg " How Soon the Dawn", Tyler Childers "Whitehouse Road", Michael Cleveland & Sam Bush "Steamboat Whistle Blues", Jerry Douglas Band "Hey Joe", Tim O'Brien feat. Chris Stapleton "High Flying Bird" Best Instrumental Composition: Jerry Douglas Band - "What If?" Best Arrangement, Instrumental: Jerry Douglas Band - "Battle Stick" Best Improvised Jazz Solo: Jerry Douglas - "Cave Bop"
I had a song ten years ago that made it to the second ballot for Song of the Year for the CMAs...I was SO excited and was talking to the President of my publishing company (biggest publisher in the world) and asked, "Man, you think we have a shot." To which he replies, "Meh - probably not. I'm actually voting for xxxx." (who was a a fellow writer at my pub company.)
